Default TRD parts. Intake and DIY on Exhaust Installation

Hello everyone, this is my first post and I am inquiring about Exhaust mainly.

I have been looking at the Exhaust sticky/thread and the many forums on scionlife.com as well as yoursciontc.com, however, I still cannot come to a conclusion. It seems that everyone has their own opinion of what exhaust sounds good. Everyone has their own preferences, and their own reasons for their choice.

Getting to the point, I have been looking at my TC and realize that the stock exhaust tip can hardly be seen with the lip kit installed (shown below). So, I have three choices:

1. Get a TRD exhaust (most expensive)
2. Get a TRD CAI
3. Get an Exhaust tip from EBAY (least expensive)

Let me just say I'm no car pro, so installation will probably end up with the dealer. Also, I am running low on cash.... So what do you recomend I do?

*I am not interested in other exhaust systems because I am not into any sound louder than the stock sound. Even the TRD exhaust seems a bit too ricer for me...

How hard is it to replace the exhaust tip? Is there a DIY out? Will this affect the exhaust sound?

I hope I don't get flamed by scionlife veterans because I am genuinely asking for assistance and have searched through a lot of threads.

Well, the main question is, what do you want exactly? If all you want is a tip that will look better with the lip kit, then I'd say go ahead and get a tip alone and save a large amount of money. I'm sorry that I can't help you with the installation procedure there, I've never done that. If you want a little bit of sound and a larger tip, then the exhaust is going to be the way to go. I'd take a stab at installing it yourself before paying the dealer tons- it's just two bolts and three rubber hangers. You'd need a jack and two jack stands, and a wrench, really.

I'm not sure if you're aware, but you can grab the TRD exhaust (and every other official Scion accessory) for a huge discount at either www.trdsparks.com , www.mcgeorgeparts.com , or www.scionpartspeople.com . Best of luck...

I think I might just go for a bigger tip, but if welding is involved, then probably not. I also read on the scion site that the TRD cold air intake offered by the dealer "may adversely affect my warranty". And if installing the TRD exhaust is pretty straight forward like you said, then that will probably be the best option. But the loudness still is kinda bothersome, to me.

If you don't want the sound, then pick out a nice new tip and have it put on by a muffler shop. It'll still be less than a new exhaust.

if you just want some sound, an axleback is perfect. i think the TRD is good for just a little added deepness in sound, but there isn't any whp gains which is fine for most. personally, if i were going for an axleback i'd go for the HKS or megan. i love my megan drift spec catback though
