Any precautions to installing cai?
I just ordered my injen cai and before I install it, I want to know if their any precautions or safety measures I should take to avoid problems. I Know some people have had issues with installs and I want to make sure everything goes in clean! thanks!
The only thing u really have to worry about is getting the o-rings on tight and that u dont mess wit the MAF sensor too much. Such as no harsh wiggling and such its a very sensitive tool. If u mess that up ur not going to be able to go more then like 30 mph. Good luck wit the install!!!

here you go, this is how you reset your ecu...one precaution you must know...

NEVER EVER REV THE CAR ON A FIRST STARTUP AND ALWAYS RESET THE ECU AFTER ANY INSTAL OF ANFTERMARKET PART.... i cant stress that enough sometimes to people..
that might not be your problem but for others reading this please please after installing a header or intake etc.. always diconnect your battery for min 5 minutes so the ecu can reset itself. after done installing connect the ecu and start the car and let it idle for 10-15 minutes before reving or driving. the ecu needs to learn WTF is going on now and needs a few minutes to correct itself.
reset you ecu one more time and let your car idle..if anything put everything back to stock and take it to the dealer so they can look at it. and replace anything that might be damaged like the MAF. once thats done just reinstall the CAI and follow what i said. you should be fine once thats done.

Hope that WAS beneficial. And it took me 15 min to find this for you. I may have sounded like an A$$ but all it takes is a little searching of previous threads, and other peoples mess ups so you won't mess up too.

Go spend $20 at autozone or any applicable parts store and get some jack stands. Don't do this without jack stands. That's a BIG precaution.
And, no, you won't have to reset your ecu for the exhaust.

Is it good to reset ecu after exhaust as well? Or only the cai because its actually installed on the engine?
I'm not too sure I didn't reset it when I did my exhaust and it works fine so you'll have to search for that one. I'm thinking not though because it has no O2 sensor on it, but you can't take my word.

im not sure about that but I have the K&N ad it hits on the side of the hole that goes in to the wheel well. Oh yeah there is a good chance that it will break the mount that is on the tranny too. If you can find a way to reinforce that you are good to go.
Putting some kind of rubber cushion is a very good idea. Also make sure you secure all part of the intake. i didnt and the sides of the hole where the intake goes through is starting to cut through the piping because of movement when i accelerate.
Now im going ot have to get another one cuz im affraid some metal chips might go into my engine if this continues.
LOL Santa Clawz That sucks about dropping your car on the ground. I bet its funny now but i would of been ____ed off at myself if that ever happened to me. The DUMBEST thing ive ever done was change my motor oil (i used royal purple at the time... very expensive at Pep Boys) i put in 4 quarts and then checked if the oil level was right. To my surprise is was empty. i looked under the car and saw that all the oil had drained out!!!! i had forgot to put the bolt back on the oil pan!!
i felt like such in idiot. The was the most expensive oil change i had ever done!!

Dont worry about having to buy any exztra parts. Just make sure that you do secure it like the instructions say. i didnt follow the instructions because i was in such a hurry to put in on to i didnt bolt everything down. the pipe and filter hit the fender wall everytime i accelerate fast and that same movement is whats causing my pipe to cut. I can fix it its just that ive been to lazy to take off the fender. i better do it though or else ill be having to find time to fix my engine.
