Default I Need Intake Help!

Ok I have searched for countless hours to try and find a consensus on the best intake for the tC. The results vary a lot. Im favoring the Injen intake but I heard there are fitment issues and I dont want to deal with that. Also can someone please tell me what the deal is with full cold air intakes and the rain. I heard a lot of horror stories about water getting into the intake and causing trouble. I really wanted to get a full cold air but im scared. Anyone who has any input please help. I having been wanting an intake for so long but just cant decide on the right one.

any CAI you buy is gonna be a pain to put in bc of the hole it has to go through from the fender. as for the water issue, get a bypass valve and that will prevent any water being sucked up into the throttle body, unless you're going in the ocean or something. AEM makes them and they're about 40-60 bucks depending on where you go. Injen is one of the most popular and is good quality (it's what i'm using) there's also the Fujita F5 intake or the TRD one from the dealership.

First.. they are all looks and sound, period. But there is nothing wrong with looks and sound. So dont go by the bs power gains you see from the manufacturer, you wont notice the difference other than the trick to the butt dyno from the sound. I have run a tc without, with and then without a CAI, so I can attest to this. The power gain is so minimal and short in the band that it makes practically no difference

That being said, go by build quality. The mounting for the K&N must have been designed by 3rd graders. It breaks the mounting point off the car most of the time. So dont go with them.

As far as hard to install... it takes all of 20 - 30 min IF you take your time.. very simple install.

ok so it looks like if I get a full CAI, I should get a bypass valve as well. Ok so thats one problem solved, but now I just need to know which one it get. Obviously im not choosing by performance gains because they are minimal. The three im debating over are the injen, aem, and the umnitza one. I love the sound of the umnitza but im not sure how great it is. Please can some more people give me some imput here. Im looking for the best quality intake and also the best sounding.

umnitza makes some good stuff. injen is pretty good too (again that's what i'm using.) it pretty much all depends on what color you want i guess.

Is there a noticable difference in the sound of the car with the injen/aem intakes? I also have a trd exhaust. I want a nice sound, a little more then the exhaust, know what I mean?

ehh I really cannot decide because I really like the umnitza sound a lot. I was looking at the intake dyno thread tho and it seems to be the worst in terms of power/torque gains. But it is a short ram , therefore eliminating the need for the bypass valve. So the umnitza sounds the best and is the cheapest but produces the worst perfomance gains. What do I do?? As I said its between the aem, injen, or umnitza.

The tC whistles stock. Some just havent noticed it. There are threads all around. The intakes dont make it whistle, they just amplify it.

Regarding the performance gains.

The comparisons done are done before the ECU learns the new part, they reset the ECU, slap on an intake and dyno. This is useless. The gains coincide to which one is running the leanest (big suprise) at the time. And even then they are over such a small span you will never notice them. Once the car learns everything again and gets the AF back to normal they are most likely providing 0 - 1 HP if you are lucky. So ge the one that looks the best and sounds the best and dont worry about the performance.

Did you look at the weapon R. I just bought it and it sounds really good especially with a TRD exhaust.
