Scion tC 08 Headlight Green Glow??!
Hey guys! So I have this weird look on my Scion tC 08 headlights and it's been bothering me NONSTOP since last January. I've tried cleaning it with products I got from the store and been researching and looking around for answers but it seems no one has this problem. The outside, or the inside it seems, of my headlights has this ugly green outline around it and I can't seem to get rid of it. This photo was taken back in January so whatever stuff that is on the headlight is frost. I'll show an updated photo when I have time. I also have HIDs in that are 6k. Any solution(s) to this would be GREATLY appreciated. Not looking forward to getting a new set of headlights either since I just got myself an intake, exhaust, and new breaks. Thanks guys!! ;([/IMG]

Pretty sure that's oxidized plastic. The headlight restoration kits remove oxidation from the surfaces you have access to. There still may be oxidation within the housing as well as the periphery. Also, the headlights will re-oxidize quickly if you don't protect it with a coating of some kind right after you are done.
The green you are seeing is actually because of your 6k HIDs. They give off a cool blue glow. Since oxidized plastic turns yellow, it mixes with your HID light to give you green. You can try to restore you headlights with one of those kits again, taking care to get all outer surfaces, including edges (will require headlight removal). That may help, but if it's oxidized on the inside, you may need to removes the entire lens and repeat on the inside. At that point, your better off living with it or buying new headlights.

No problem. What you want to do is use a proper headlight restoration kit. This will involve wet sanding with progressively finer grits of sandpaper, followed by polishing and finally a protective coating. You need to sand off the old oxidized material to expose the clear plastic that's lying underneath. That's the only way to do it. If doing by hand, be prepared for a workout.
