Default Lights turn off automatically when you remove key?

I wanted to see what the headlights looked like at night and after i shut the engine off or removed they key, cannot remember, the lights automatically turned off. I think this is a great feature considering I sometimes forget to turn off the lights when it rains in the daytime.

I do wish it had daytime running lights. Had it on my Corolla. Helps other car see ya. Guess I could turn them on but man that takes effort.

Its amazing all the tricks you find when you read your owners manual Did you also know that if you unlock your car with the remote and then dont open any doors for 30 seconds, the car locks again.

may seem to be a small thing, but that's the basic requirement for me when i am looking for a new car, my 93 corolla did the same thing, then they take it off after that model year. how hard is it to make a state machine to turn off headlight when the door is open?

With the auto-off feature, there's no work involved. Just turn them on and never turn them off.

I actually wish that there would be a delay. Being female and ending up in questionable areas sometimes I love that my diamante has a 2 minute (?) delay on the auto off feature. It makes me feel more secure leaving my lights on until I get into my house or where ever it is that I'm going.

If I'm not mistaken that's a standard feature for Toyota. Turns off automatically instead of giving you a warning noise like hondas usually do.

Not sure which I like more. Probably the way toyotas do it. No annoying noises.

when i manually turn on my headlights, they dont turn off automatically..they just make that annoying noise when i open the door. when i use the auto-on/auto-off lights they just turn off when the car shuts down..btw, this is on a 2003 corolla

I do believe you can turn them back on though, once you shuut your car off. I think I tested this....did not realize the auto-off feature though...that is great.

I guess I could just turn mine on, and never turn them off.....like stated above.

For those of you without a TC..check this out. The headlights when they are the first click of the lights, the "parkings lights glow ALONG with small city lights that light up the light housing. Daytime running lights can qualify like this.
And yes the Auto Off is uber-pimp.

For you tC owners- TRY THIS. Leave the headlamps on auto, when you get out of the car and thier still on -hit the lock buttom on the fob twice- it should turn them off. every other toyota (except my xB) does this...

My matrix had DRLs and a light sensor - so I never had to turn on or turn off the headlights. I'm spoiled with that, cause my old grand cherokee had the same thing. When I rented an '04 Camry it did not have the auto-on or auto-off - really surprised me, cause Camry is supposed to be higher end than a Matrix...

So tC has auto-off. That should do it for me Happy.

I don't think it's possible. You might want to make a post in ICE /electrical about it though. Someone might be able to offer some wiring suggestions.

I wish they had daytime running lights, where they automatically switch on when you turn your car on.
