Warranty's gonna expire soon, what to inspect.
so I hit 30K this last weekend and changed the oil, reoiled my filter and balance/rotated the tires. but with the warranty expiring in 36K I was wondering what I should get inspected, what major things have people had happen after the warranty expires. I got a rattle in the hatch now and behind the dash when revving above 4K. beyond that not much major.
Ah crappy. You just reminded me my warranty is going to expire in 1000 miles (about 2.5 weeks). Wonder if my sunroof explodes again if it'll be covered. I'll have to be nice to my lawyer friends just in case...

If you’re really concerned, bring it in for a full inspection and ask to be part of the inspection. That way you can see what they are looking at, and if you see something that looks questionable, you can get an honest answer from the actual mechanic (as opposed to the sugar-coated-flashcard-taught responses from the service reps). They tend to be a little more honest when you are looking over their shoulder.
And if you really don’t trust dealership mechanics (thinking they will notice something questionable but take the chance it will last until 36,001 miles so they can SELL you the repair instead of Toyota covering warranty costs) then take it to a private mechanic that you can trust. Get them to discover the problems, then have the dealership repair it at Toyota’s expense.
Most mechanical errors are made apparent well before 36,000 miles. If you made it to 30,000 without any major problems then I wouldn’t be too concerned, unless of course you failed to understand that the car is mechanical, not magical.........
If you want to drive like a bat out of hell and not have to pay for repairs after 36,000 miles, then I would suggest you just lease a vehicle.

I'd suggest taking it in for a full inspection, also. It can't hurt you, it can only help.
lease
you find me a dealer who will lease for 36K within 1 year with NO PENALTIES. i certainly don't expect the car to blow up once i hit 36K but I've certainly put the car through its paces, but I do every oil change at 5K on the dot with Mobil1 Syn. I have syn gear oil, i balance and rotate every oil change. and for the most part I've been lucky with the car as everyone else had major rattles from the beginning, broken glass, funy shifts, yadda yadda. but thanks guys. I certainly have a bit of faith in toyota.
