Scion Xposed Contest Win a LIMITED Urban Vinyl/Designer Toy
Hello all,
My name is Andrew from Blackwater Toys. I’m new to this forum and I hope this is the right area to post this. We are an Urban Vinyl/Designer Toy company and we will be holding a contest to give away eight of our toys, Kuggs, at our booth (RIGHT NEXT TO URBANRACER) in Scion Xposed - Jones Beach, New York, September 24, 2006.
Before I go show you guys the pictures of the Kuggs and the contest details I wanted to give you the concept behind Kuggs. Sorry, this is going to be a long post. :?
Concept
My partner (Johnny) and I wanted to do a toy with a certain shape where artists and consumers can redesign on their own. We also wanted a character behind the shape with have a strong back-story and a sense of meaning behind it. We didn't want a toy where people were just moved by the design. We wanted the design on the Kugg to some type of meaning behind it, not because it just looks cool.
Kuggs is the symbol about the struggle of everyday life. It's about accepting life the way other people has forced you to take. It's about the frustration of knowing that something is better out there for you and there is nothing you can do to change your situation. It's about being trapped and having no choice. It's about being faceless and having no voice. It's about being everyone that ultimately becoming no one.
A more detailed description is on our website - www.blackwatertoys.com
Prize
The Kugg that we will giving away in the contest will be the 6" Kugg. The Kugg retails at $65.00, it comes with a 6" tall Kugg, a 3" long subway train and a smaller Kugg that stands 3/4" high. The run for the 6" Kugg is limited to 250 for each design. In order words there are only 250 pairs of Kuggs. After this run, we will go the more "traditional" route and make them out of roto with the rare occasion of very limited run of solid polyresin Kuggs.
Contest
The contest is to design a Kugg and Scion car. The contestant canl design a Kugg and Scion to whatever they see fit. It can be a reinterpretation of the character, it can be a designed pattern lay over the Kugg, it can be a scene, it is open to whatever you want to do. I have attached Jpegs for you to download and design. After you finish the design you will have to emailed it to info@blackwatertoys.com. We will pick eight winners from the entries we receive. The winners will have to be present at our booth when we announce the winners. I will post later on the times that we will be announcing the winners.
**For those of you who know Adobe Illustrator and would like an EPS file, email us at info@blackwatertoys.com and we'll get it to you.

good luck with it though.
It's actually a really cool concept.
If you read the story line and can think outside the box, it's a very inspirational toy.
check out www.blackwatertoys.com for the complete story
I probably wouldn't play with it, just keep it as a token to help me push forward in life...
To sum it up there are many things in life that can make you feel boxed in, whether money or emo problems or class struggles... you can interpret it anyway you would like.
Many people are oppressed by working for someone else... Which is extrememely inspirational to the entrepenuer, or someone soon to take steps through that route...
Many people do not want to limit their earnings from what their employer will give to them...
Others have their lifestyle limited to what is deemed right, or "moral."
Cookie cutter homes, cookie cutter lifestyles. Never happy, and just another mindless zombie.
You shouldn't be afraid to do what you want to do... as long as it doesn't have any dangerous reprocussions or endangers anyone else...
everytime i look at them they tend to make me see life in a new light...

i read the story line, visited the website and really...i can think outside of the box. Please…my comments were far from ‘from the hip.’ I recall something about they stare with vacant eyes, they are oppressed, blah blah blah, there was nothing redeeming about this….and we all know kids comes running for the great fun of slavery!
why would i want a toy that embodies something as depressing as an oppressive life??
how about a line of toys called the bulimic bratz or the cutting crew, or perhaps the suicidal posse?
