Cheap (Target) Xenon's vs. $2000 Online HID Kits
I am a newbie to customizing cars, so what is the difference?
I remember when my parents were getting a L-ES330 before, the Xenon HID upgrade was lik $3000. I can find HID kits online for ~$2000, but I also see the $13 pair of bulbs at auto stores and even Target.
They both look pretty blue/white to me.

Hey guys, Im a n00b to cars, so whats the difference?
I saw that there was a Ferrari 360 going for $200,000K at a dealer. I also saw one on Autotrader going for only $175,000. BUT I also saw a Kia on the same lot for only $1000. It was painted the same Ferrari Red.

---Xenon Hid's burn xenon gas to produce light.
---Bulbs that sell for $20 have a filiment which heats up to make light usally made to burn hot so the are brighter than stock causing them to fail faster than OEM. Light output is not even close!

your comparing apples to tireirons. HID is a bulb that is charged by thousands of volts to burn a gas.. the targer is just a halogen bulb like stock.. its painted blue to get the white affect.. but as said, they suck and are way ricerish.. and are very dim. so.. dont do it.. go HID.. max of $300, check out oznium's site.. he is a sponsor here.... great guy and great product..
Oh, so they are cheap for a reason...
Thanks for the info, but do I need different headlight power/wiring or can I just buy 2 HID bulbs and stick them in (assuming they are the right format/size--is there something I should know about that?)
Thx.

you need a 9006 HID kit. or 9005 depending on what beam you want lit. they usualy come w/ a wiring harness.. but you have the bulb itself (rebased d2s) and a ballast that needs to be mounted somplace and wired up.. not as simple as replacing a bulb-
