what would you guys recommend (2.0 in drop)? does anybody know the rates on the springs? because i have over 200 lbs of stereo stuff in my rear hatch area so with the stock springs the rear already looks lower than the front. and which of the sets is cheaper and if you could direct me as to where to find them for a good price? let me know what you guys think

spys always look a lil lower in the rear than front to start with.
i think it'll DEFIANTLY look funny. like the high will look so much higher
that u might hate it! maybe u can find a guy lowered on spys
with the same size rims as u.. toss some of ur crap in the trunk.. or sit
2 guys in the rear and see what happens... like if u're able to toss ur
sub box in the rear and see what happens and its ok... make sure its what u want

But I bet you have no way of comparing because that's the only 2" set you sell. Maybe if you also sold the goldline you'd see a difference in demand? This is just speculation and I am only guessing that you carry the spy's for 2". I have riden in both the spy and goldline springs on a xB and I prefered the the goldline only because of price. They are both equally better than stock but goldlines are $50 less and still have that nice warranty. Once I find someone with the Tanabes who'll let me see, then I will chose the springs for my ride.

my brother had the same problem he has 4 10" in the back with spy so we just put spy in the front and stock in the back the back is a lil higher but with 2 people in the back it was about level with no rubbing on 19"

i just wanna make sure goldline will make the car low enuff to look good on18's..
since almost everyone's rims stick in a lil. i wanna haev a lil of the tire tucked..
barely any.. spy's let them sit RIGHT at the tire.. i wish it was 1/4" lower.
but i dunno... my friend(not jdmxb) rode in jdmxb's car then mine.
even though i have donuts(should be softer ride) he said that spy's
on 18" lo profile tires feel more softer/comfy than my tanabe's.. and my
tanabes aren't even the df210!!!!! and i have donuts on~!!!!!

i don't think any of us has actually measured the difference between GoldLine and Spy. I have 215/45/17 on mine...and i have to say that it looks low enough...and surprisingly no rubbing at all. I've seen alot of xB with SPY...they all look great...but to answer ur question... there hasn't been any type of measurement done for comparison. Both GoldLine and SPY states 2" drop...but honestly, i think my GoldLines is abit lower... i've had it for about a month now...and the front seem to have settled lower....i can barely fit one finger into the gap.... my GoldLines sits lower in the front than the rear...slightly...

and im sure plenty of people have rode in spy's
but how do spy's compare to these on 18's? ask a xB owner with SPY.

As for comfort, GoldLine is superb...so much better than stock...alot softer, hence smoother. it is not as bouncy as u would think in a 2" dropped vehicle. And yes, GoldLine offers a limited lifetime warrany against sag.

Personally, i like both SPY and GoldLine ...but since i'm always on a budget...GoldLine gets my overall vote. Furthermore, the yellow GoldLine springs look great peering through my rear rims...haha.

usually it's a good idea..but with our xB... i don't necessarily think it's necessary unless u feel drastic alignment problem. And for reference...don't get it aligned immediately after u lower it...let the spring settle first... usually a week or so.

as for mine...my alignment seems pretty straight if not straigher than b4.

i drive alot ... put up already 3000 miles on my xB since being lowered, but i have no visible sign of wear on tires...nor has the alignment been altered.

If you're replacing the front springs as part of the project, you should have it aligned afterwards. The front strut towers have eccentric bolts that adjust camber and if they're not *exactly* aligned after changing springs, the alignment will be off. As Bluebox mentioned, it might be a good idea to wait until the springs settle. ymmv...

i heard that the spring replacement does not alter the alignment at all as it is seperate from the stuff that adjusts the alignment...

In the rear, the springs are separate from the shocks, but in the front, the strut housings have to be removed to access the springs. If you look at a picture of the strut housings, at the bottom you'll notice (2) mounting holes -- one of them for an eccentric bolt (a bolt with an ellipse just below the head). The hole on the strut housing for the eccentric has a knurl next to it and the eccentric adjusts camber at that point by riding against the knurl. If you see one, what I'm saying will make sense...it's a bit tough to put to words though. :?

Loosly translated, if one has to remove the strut housing, there's a good possibility the alignment will be affected.

i had the same question about alignment, but after i got mine installed, the alignment was better!(the steering wheel used to sit a little to the left). Also, at about 85mph i used to shake the wheel a little, but now its SMMOOOTH all the way to 100! 8) I WUV MY GOLDLINES :wink:

isn't it weird...my alignment got better with the lowered GoldLines too? haha. wat a deal...lol.

but seriously... i have no problem with my alignment...and even when i brake hard...it stops straight. i guess i'll know with time how my alignment really is...if i start to see some wear on either side of the front tires...then i'll know alignment will be required.

for now..i'm happy as a jelly bean...
