Is the xA comfortable on long road trips? I have read mixed reviews in magazines and on websites. When I first sat in an xA, I was impressed by the firm seats. They seem better than the ones in the Echo, which I had driven a few months before. My two xA test drives were too short to get a good idea.

What's the real verdict? Anyone take any one-day, two-day, three-day or even cross-country drives yet? I plan to get cruise control with mine, so mainly I am wondering about the driving position.

I drove it 9.5 hours and i felt great....much better then my vW bug......

I realized if I'm going on a long trip with luggauge and all...I can only have me and another person in the car...otherwise it's a pain in the bum. I take a 4 hour drive every time I go up to Orlando or down to Pembroke Pines. This has happened... 8 times already. It's a pretty easy drive. The seats help a lot...if only we had armrests...

Drove 7 hours in FL a couple weeks ago. Was amazed at how comfortable the seats were. They supported by back well, I think because there is so much side pressure which removes pressure directly from the spinal cord.

There was 2 of us and we put the rear seat down and had plenty of room.

my ankle usually aches from holding the gas pedal. . . wish cruise control was standard. . . something about the up right seating puts more strain on your ankles. . .

...if only we had armrests...

I saw aftermarket armrests somewhere but I have no idea of the quality or anything.

I don't know maybe it's just me but I don't mind the armrests missing.

I generally put my right hand on the wheel or the shifter, rarely do I ever feel the need to put it down.

I can understand though, I do need an armrest for my left arm.

I bought the xA to commute back and forth to work... approx 30 miles each way every day. I've noticed that if I drive much more than that, my ankle and knee start to ache quite a bit. I would really like cruise control, so I could take my foot off the gas.

Oh but did I mention I'm 6'3''.... That probably has a bit to do with feeling cramped don't ya think?

Try adjusting your chair....or adding some thick (or multiple) washers to the front bolts of your seat. It should help.. tbblizzard did that to his seat...

It's not bad for me. I have a bad lower back so I find myself moving constantly. The don't have enough lower lumbar support for me, but I'll be fixing that later.

Other than that, it's a pretty comfortable drive.
