Neebie Post...should i buy now or later....?
Hey guys I've been lurking around here ever since i saw the tc and its sticker price, so i guess its time to post. Heres my dilema i currenty drive a s/c toyota previa van and while its got its perks i need a manual that i can take through the canyons...tc! The problem is im starting collge this fall and i just dont think i will be able to make the payment, i have 6k to put down and just want a 5sp indigo ink with no options, other than a s/c later on. What do you guys think....wait a bit till the 06 model with s/c and all first year problems resolved or screw and go for it and hope it works out?
thats funny man, my first car was a S/C previa, then I sold it, bought an integra, then two more after that, now I have a tC. I put 5k down on my tC and financed for 60 months and came out with $277.00 payments. your payments will be even less than that because I got a good amount of options put in and my sticker price came to 18.3k. I say go for it man, these things are fun as hell, and so far mine has given me no trouble.
I've been a long time lurker, but this thread really motivated me to post a response. To the original poster, you should be much more concerned with your credit future. You don't want to default on your payments and ruin your credit. You have a reliable vehicle (my family's non-s/c previa is at 223k and going strong) and really don't need this car. You said yourself that you don't think you can make the payments. I urge you to make a more financially responsible decision. The last thing you want is to ruin your credit and get your new car repossessed. The money you'd be putting into car payments can make a huge difference in the diet of a college student.
If you must get the car, make sure you can pay for it. Set up a budget and see if what you want to do is feasible and reasonable. Good luck!

I say hold off. One reason why I'm holding off on getting the tC right away is that I wanted to see what problems people are having with the car. This being the first year the car came out, people are already complaining about noises coming from the moonroof. From what I understand, dealers are recieving instructions to fix this, because its just two loose bolts. Another one is a rattling noise coming from the back, like somethings moving around. I'm also waiting because the longer I wait means the more money I'll have to put down. I want to put as much down as possible. Also, I want to see what colors people pick the most in San Diego. I'm set on getting a Flint Mica, but if I see that a lot of people in San Diego have it, I just might go with Indigo Ink Pearl or Super White. I can see that the tC is getting a lot of attention from aftermarket companies, as many manufacturers have shown interest in creating turbos, body kits, etc for this car.
Financing the car shouldn't be a problem for me, after all, it's going to be under my parents name until I turn 18. I'm going to be paying for the downpayment however.

Well, if you wait until all the problems on any car are fixed, then you will never get a car. There is not one car out there that does not have some type of "bug". But the tC comes very close to perfect. I have only 600 miles and I have noticed the roof creak which does not happen that often. Will get fixed on my first oil change. But everything else on this car is great. Love the power, the TRD exhaust, looks, Pioneer stereo, Flint Mica.
Along with the occasional creaking roof, I don't like the "blindside" on the driver's side. But this is one great car for the total price I paid of $18,500.

mine came out a little over 19k...5 spd, sub, exhaust, mirror etc...and with no down payment its 330 a month. so if you get a base model, put 5k down and go for the longest term you should have dirt cheap payments. and unless you dont have a job why couldnt you afford it?
