Default Auto tC owners.....

One of the things that drives me nuts about my civic is the lack of response when i need it. How is the response on the auto tC?

i was originally thinking about manual tC but after i thought about it... florida traffic sucks and you cant do all the things in a manual that you can in an automatic car.

well, thanx ;)

I am more than pleased with the auto tC and the response. I do have the TRD exhaust which adds a little power. Also I came from a Corolla......

Default Response

Might I inject that "There's no replacement for displacement." Responce in the Auto I can't fully atest to, but the 2.4 in the five speed has a fair amount of get-up-and-go, without you having to worry about bringing it within 2000 rpm from redline on a down shift for agressive lane changing.

The car seems plenty peppy, especially compared to all but the Civic Si from honda's civic line up. Coupe vs. coupe, no contest. regarding throttle response.

I've always driven automatics so I can't really compare my tC with the manual. The automatic tC has a lot of pick up and go power... not slow at all...

I also chose to go with the automatic because of traffic issues...

3000 rpm at 75 mph compare to 3000 rpm at 65 mph for the manual (if i didn't remember wrong), the auto tranny can save some gas.

response wise, it's faster than corolla, not sure for civic, but since it's auto, things is going to be a bit slower, manual is alway way better in term of response time.

The auto is great, I've owned many stick cars, such as a 350Z, 03 Cobra, Turbo Eclipse, etc etc. It actually has a lot of low end, at partial throttle it has very decent power. For The weight of the car it's not slow by any means. The 5-speed may be more fun, but for every day leisurely driving the auto trans is great in this car.

Im here in Miami and I just ordered my manual tC a week ago or so, and I initially managed to test drive a manual one. I was in love, the throw was super short, although it didnt have a shift know and i dunno if thats what caused the feel. Response was excellent.

Now, im a stick man myself, but the day i placed my order i asked the guy if i could drive an auto one for kicks.

I was disgusted, after having driven the manual and being a stick man, it was horrible.

Drive both and see what you like.... thats always best

I just ordered a Flint Mica auto and it seemed to be very quick to response. I test drove a Azura Pearl auto with trd exhaust, and let me tell ya, the salesman did a off the line to the onramp with 3 people on the car. I was impressed with the torque and since I was in the back seat, I was even more impressed. I drove the auto and liked the fact that it seem to rev a bit lower than the manual, If I remembered about just below 3000 rpm at 72-73 mph.

I also drove a Black 5 spd, trd exhaust, trd springs and also like the quick response. One thing I did notice was I just didnt like the car running at about 3500 rpm at 75 mph. I know the car has a lot of torque and passing power reasons why it revs at the way it does.

Comparatively speaking, having a v6 tacoma auto and a manual v6 bmw 328ci , I choose the tC auto partly for the gas consumption, its torque (pretty good for an automatic and passing power, lower revs on the rpms. Another consideration was also the high traffic on interstate 15 in san diego (just terrible!!) Those where my factors of why I choose the auto.

I suggest that you test drive both and tailor which would fit your needs and driving style. No matter what you go with, the vehicle is a all around great vehicle imo.

Take care,
May the force be with ya :D

all i've got to say is 2.4l vs 1.7l. the auto tC won't have the same problem as your auto civic.

I should have phrased that differently....
you can do anything in a manual car but auto is more comfortable.

1 hold food with ur right hand while driving with ur left. (im usually getting food for my familia and i dont like the food tiping over in the seat or whatever)

2 talkin on the phone (im too poor for a head-set)

3 finding cd's and stuff

4 give ur female more attention (arm around her or whatever)

5 :: coughcoughroadheadcoughcough ::

6 taking spur of the moment pics with my digi-cam

7 flippin the bird. lol

8 being lazy

9 right hand becomes reserve for when left hand either falls asleep or becomes injured.

10 traffic is not an issue.

i just had to give 10 reasons rather than an odd number just to feel special but you get the point.

when driving a manual, its not like your right hand is always on the shifter..whhen i drive stick, i have both hands on the wheel and just move my hand when i need to shift...and if your driving on freeway, its just like auto.. :D

On the weekends, manual would be better. But I commute to work on weekdays so auto is better for traffic sludge. I used to commute in a current gen Civic auto and the tC has alot more torque for merging onto the freeway and the engine is alot quieter at 75mph+.
