Default Weapon R Intake!?

Ok....for all intake owners..question...i Just put on the weapon r intake from MMW...and for some reason i waste more gas w/ this on than the stock intake....and i mean a lot of gas..... normally mileage w/ the stock was about 290 and i just filled up after only going about 215 miles......is there a major problem..or is this just normal than others??

well... the only reason i can think you are getting that much difference in gas mileage is because that now that you have an aftermarket intake, you think you can go faster, so you floor it alot or drive more aggressively to show off the COOL NOISES it makes... but really, there is no performance differenace and it's all in your head... drive how you used to drive (wear earplugs if needed) and you will see your mileage go back up again...

btw, dont wear earplugs, just realize that an intake is nothing to be PROUD of or nothing to show off... its not unique or anything, so just take it slow!

and you can also CONSIDER the fact that this intake MAY have a SLIGHT, SLIGHT increase in air flow, meaning you need more gas to keep a nice afr...

this is highly negligible though so dont worry about it, it's all still in your head

i dont think its necessary to go faster w/ the intake im not a little ricer....but i know there is a increase in performance cuz it picks up faster when i do speed up..... but i drive normally like n e one else would

prove it
It's a damn intake. How about you go to the track and do some runs with an intake and with the airbox and we'll see how drastically different that $400 piece of heat-soaking chromed pipe makes you.

Try installing it sometime and unhook the battery.

It lets the ECU "relearn" itself, which may have been your issue.

I don't know if that's the problem or not.

well id ont think it has to relearn anything.. its pretty much the same thing isnt it? for SRI? i mean for CAI i know for sure you ahve to cause its getting denser air but for the SRI it suffers from heat soak so its pretty much stock..?

As per the instructions, it is recommended to reset the ECU. This is done by disconnecting the negative battery terminal.

Is this your first fill up?? Maybe the ecu is still adjusting its longterm fuel trim?? Give it sometime it should atleast get a little better.

You're welcome. It's work worth a shot.

Just be sure to let the car idle for about 5 minutes after installing the intake and reconnecting the battery. Don't rev the engine until the 5 minutes are past.
