Default 05-06 Hatch rattle TSB UPDATED!! - foam tape

UPDATE: I have attached a picture of the bumper stop with the foam tape attached. It's what most of us used before this TSB came out, in order to stop the hatch from bouncing around.

For those who have a hatch rattle, most of us have used foam tape to fix the clearance issue between the stoppers and the cushions on the hatch. Well here it's official. Scion has released an official TSB on how they fixed it for the 05-06 tC. Images are attached, hope this helps everyone.

here is the foam tape fix, for those who have asked..

The dealer has told me so many things and tried so many things, yet none have worked. Is this one for real? (sorry for the skepticism, its just hard not to be). Has anyone done it yet?

Hey Spect2K3... Yeah it's for real, it's a real TSB, not some joke. They finally got around to fixing the problem with the hatch bouncing and making noise.. Or at least one of the noises..

To IaMVinhamese - if your VIN # is higher then that means they already adjusted your car at the factory and warranty wouldn't cover it, since your # isn't in that "affected group"

To the others about the foam tape, it's single sided sticky foam tape, it's weather stripping, about 1/2 - 3/4 thick foam tape attached to the bumper on the hatch, so that when it closes to the stopper bolted to the car it will take up the slack and not allow the hatch to bounce around. That was the fix a lot of us used.. It worked for some of us, other had other rattles, but thought this could help people out there..

I've tried adjusting the striker mount months ago. Whenever I tighten the screws again though, the mount moves back up into it's original position.

ok here it is. I tested 2 on the sides on the way to work, then on the way home i put another one in the middle, seems to work fine. No taps at all!!!

*This is only for the tapping that you hear.* at first i thought it was under the headliner but then after padding that up with loads of soft stuff i still heard it. I then could hear it when im outside and i close my door. If you put a bit of pressure on the rear glass right by where the rag is and close the door, no more taps. Try this to see if it helps that anoying tapping. I need to find another solution for when it rains. But this will work for now. Maybe some thick weather stripping. Ill also try this TSB to get rid of the hatch beeing loose. Hope this helps yall!!!

Um, buying a new car then having to stuff it with old rags is kind of a turn off. I've done similar with cars close to 200,000 miles, but c'mon Toyota, you're SLIPPING!

ok, so this TSB is for them to adjust the striker plate and put new (presumably thicker) rubber stopper things on, right?
