magnetic 10-24-2006, 02:41 AM And to think, I was going to get set and mod my new XMods tC as fast as Tim was modding his REAL tC. Always a step ahead!
I can't believe you put that ish in your profile. Love it.

JOEinSD 10-24-2006, 06:35 AM reminds me of a mazda3/6 in that second pic.. i think its because it's not long enough or it's too tall. I dont know.. but nice Tim!
DownhillSpec 10-24-2006, 06:58 AM oh hells no... i know someone didnt just put out an xmods challenge... i'v got a g35 with like 300 hours of tweaking into it... i can gun it and burn off a brand new set of foam tires and have it barely move... hey words of advice... forget the engine upgrade... take a few wraps out of the wire in the motor... its like a stage 5 engine upgrade... goes crazy... im tellin you i got you on this one tim.
We need an XMods race/tourny! I need to blow the dust off mine.
DownhillSpec 10-24-2006, 07:14 AM im game for it... needs a bit of a tune up (havent messed with it in like a year) but im sure it will still own the street... or mock street at least.
snowbuddytC 10-24-2006, 07:18 AM lol are those leds in the car? i dindt' know you could do that
DownhillSpec 10-24-2006, 07:21 AM heck yeah you can... when i quit tinkerin with mine i was riggin a video card fan into it cause my motor was running too hot... you can do anything with those things the trick is to use old flat cell phone batteries... crap now im just giving too much away.
willlangford 10-24-2006, 07:22 AM we need a drift rc car tourny too
Spottedbrown 10-24-2006, 10:15 PM sweet i want one now! i go to a site called atomicmods.com they have tons of stuff for xmods. motor upgrades lithium upgrades billet aluminum upgrades... ive got the g35 also
WeDriveScions 10-24-2006, 10:59 PM Man, you shouldn't have linked me to that.... :P
Now, I have a list of mods for my XMods tC almost as big as for my Stock tC...
That site is awesome... Lithium Polymer/V2 upgrade/Motor Upgrade/Bearing Upgrade.... I WANT IT ALL!!!! Golly.
TC06CHICK 10-25-2006, 12:10 AM TIM Holy crap I thought you seriously bought another one instantly I thought "Janine is going to kill him" and then the pic showed up! Funny guy Tim

Yeah, this is for us supergeeks in the PNW! , I'm not sure about drifting, but I'd love to get a race track and have it at our SL events or M&Gs.... There are different cars, you don't HAVE to get a Scion... and in researching... the mods are almost as endless as with our real cars....
Don't really need a track, although it'd be nice. Just an open area with a smooth, clean surface will work.
DownhillSpec 10-25-2006, 03:19 AM smooth clean bad... mine wont even move on cement... its too smooth i dont get any traction no matter what tires i use... i know i have tried them all and some of my own... i just smoke em up... and tim forget the lithium battery upgrade... USE OLD CELL PHONE BATTERIES!!! more powerful and you probably have like 6 of them like everyone else... im gonna get to work on puttin that fan in now.
willlangford 10-25-2006, 04:03 AM WDS - i think its time for you to make an exmods guide...cuz i dont know ____ about em..
on the other hand i do have a yokomo s15 rc car i gotta finish building.... but yea that would be something fun to do for a MnG
mocascion 10-25-2006, 04:18 AM Do they only sell XMODS at Radio Shack? Where does one get them?
magnetic 10-25-2006, 04:21 AM Seeing as how they're made by RadioShack, they're only sold by them.
...and their website. hehe ;)
mocascion 10-25-2006, 04:48 AM Didn't know they were only made by Radio Shack...but when I google I only come up with RS & Ebay. That explains it!
applesrfriends 10-25-2006, 04:49 AM hah for a second there i thought it was real size until further inspection of the pics proved me wrong hah very nice tho
willlangford 10-25-2006, 05:25 AM i like my drift rc car better LOL
WeDriveScions 10-25-2006, 05:58 AM You can set them up for drift well too.... I've got a few websites I'm browsing and parts I'm looking at now.... I'm wanting the full silver aluminum chassis components... they make EVERYTHING for this little sucker...
Oh, and I'm getting the lithium polymer packs (Which are what cell phone batteries are) and found an awesome site for custom wind motors and such, along with all the aluminum pieces and bearing upgrades...
GPM seems to be a great alloy part manufacturer and I'm shopping around for good prices on them... as they aren't too cheap...
This is another cool site for some hefty mods too...
http://www.undergroundxmods.com/catalog/index.php?osCsid=c6edcd2ed704616e70dcf325db31dc2a
DownhillSpec 10-25-2006, 06:23 AM why will no one listen to me... i have a ridiculously battle scarred xmod... "custom wound" is a nice way of saying i chopped a few winds out of a normal motor and am selling it to you for twice what i paid... and why buy lithium packs when you can use old cell phone batteries. also you gotta think about the heat those "custom wound" motors generate... they will melt the chassis and the batteries... the parts you need to get first are... sealed ball bearings.... the plastic ones are crap and the open ones seize up really quickly... awd conversion... otherwise with extra power you have no controll... and beefed up dogbones (half shafts) those things break like freakin crazy... then start chopping holes in the body to get more air at the motor to cool it and put some lead weight really low in the body so that you have more wieght on the wheels so you can control it...
magnetic 10-25-2006, 06:37 AM ...so is this why you haven't compiled an FAQ/guide for those puddle lights, Timbo? :P
Where does the time go hahah
WeDriveScions 10-25-2006, 06:42 AM Oh, I've read up... Plus, I was HUGE into RC10 truck racing back in the day as a teen and know all about heat/motors/bearings/and crappy plastic parts.
The AWD / Dogbones / Battery / Cooling Options are all on my list, along with a merry list of bling items...
Most of the motors I have looked at are ranked and reviewed by some of the super active racers pretty well, and with the correct stacking, my board will be able to effiecient kick out the needed umph... and they should stay cool enough for 10-15 minute runs...
With the alloy replacement for all the plastic components around the motor, I can soak up a little more heat and not worry about too much melting... but it's just running conservative on time and not running the motors too long... the new ball bearing motors with correct lube seem to run well and decently not insanely hot at high speeds.... 60K or so is what I want to run.
no way in hell I'm cutting my baby up... she's a show car! :P
I want to get all the alloy parts to make it look nifty, I'll add a cooling fan for the baby, but will run the custom lithium polymer packs on the bottom, as they look really clean with the whole chassis.
I'm thinking about buying another kit as well, to go super aggressive and not too bling with... open ceramic bearings, HIGH speed/torque motor/powerplant and super stacked ECU with all wiring switched out... it would be for the nicer days and just for plain jane SPEED, but not taken out a lot, as the open bearings, although much better, are a pain in the butt to keep clean and lubed.... I just want to see how fast I can get one of these suckers... 50 MPH???? :P
WeDriveScions 10-25-2006, 06:45 AM ...so is this why you haven't compiled an FAQ/guide for those puddle lights, Timbo? :P
Where does the time go hahah
I still have my set sitting in my garage.... you should come down for a visit and I can help put yours in with you!
Tim, you sure are making a killing standing at those off-ramps, enough to buy all these new toys!
DownhillSpec 10-25-2006, 07:10 AM nah after you get enough power they just spin out and/or dont move.
magnetic 10-25-2006, 07:14 AM ...so is this why you haven't compiled an FAQ/guide for those puddle lights, Timbo? :P

Man that's a long drive. I'd have to plan far ahead in advance. And in closer to tropical conditions.
I have my tC sitting in front of my desk, and I haven't even bought a power source for them yet!
WeDriveScions 10-25-2006, 07:41 AM nah after you get enough power they just spin out and/or dont move.
If they are geared right, you can tone down the torque significantly, which allows them to not spin as much and it takes them longer to get to speed, but solves the traction issues... keeping the right tires for the surface helps a lot too... I've found some really nice foam tires which should grab really well on smooth surfaces...
It's the handling issues that really get tough at the high speeds... really getting good front control arms that tone down the possible movement of the wheels to give less turning ability and disallow spinning out all the time... and stop the horrible movement of the front and rear wheels... as they flop around like crazy... :(
It can be done... oh yes.... It can be done :P
DownhillSpec 10-25-2006, 07:52 AM well honestly i have a lot of work to do on my real tC... so if you can make 50 mph on the xmod then go for broke dude... mine goes like heck on pretty much any surface accept perfectly flat and smooth and i have gotten the handling issues down to it makes sharp turns if it really needs to about 50% of the time with out spinning out... of course that was also when i used to mess with it all the time and now it prolly just spins in place cause i havent driven it in a while and have forgotten how. but yeah... 50 dollars towards xmod = radiator hoses... or a air diversion panel... or frankly 50 dollars towards any of the other things i wanna get done... so im tryin really hard not to get distracted... hey does anyone think there are repercussions for existing on ramen noodles all winter?
WeDriveScions 10-25-2006, 08:37 AM I lived on Ramen noodles mostly for like a year and a half when I lived on the ship and couldn't handle their nasty food... I turned out ok...
I'm quite sick of spending money on my real tC, and since this is like spending money on a real car, but at about 5 percent of the real cost, I'll play around with this to save me some cash...
I have to wait for Miami to see if getting the new xB or the xD is worth getting rid of my tC for... :)
honey0bucket 10-25-2006, 02:16 PM xD = worth it.
DownhillSpec 10-25-2006, 02:36 PM seeing as how the thought of gettin rid of my tC only crossed my mind once and for a vague moment... i havent even looked to find out what the xD is going to be... meh oh well.
Spottedbrown 10-25-2006, 08:53 PM the gpm front knucke set is a must for the xmods. ( http://www.atomicmods.com/ProductInfo.aspx?productid=10956 ) the plastic stock ones break really easy...ive got a long list of mods that i want for mine too haha. i just havent bought any because there are too many other things that im trying to buy lol
Spottedbrown 10-25-2006, 09:00 PM Yeah, this is for us supergeeks in the PNW! , I'm not sure about drifting, but I'd love to get a race track and have it at our SL events or M&Gs.... honey0bucket 10-26-2006, 09:43 PM Does anybody want to buy me a xmods? i want the g35 :) ooooo i'll just go to readio shack right now and get one!!!
The G35 is last year's model, should be cheaper. I've seen it as cheap as $30, but should be no more than $40.
But just like a real car, the mods/accessories will make you keep spending money
Spottedbrown 10-27-2006, 08:06 PM ...my gf and i decided that we didint want to sink any more money into our xmods...so we bought a 1/10 scale monster truck by traxxas(last night)...omg its fun and fast!
andersg 10-27-2006, 08:21 PM Dang it, whenever I go to radio shack I tell them "there should be a Scion xmod, then I'll buy one" of course I meant the XB not the TC... oh well, I will probably have to get one of these too.
