View Full Version : What shocks does everyone run with their DF210's?
Venom_Xb 10-26-2006, 06:31 PM I am running TRD with mine and those shocks suck!!! What a waste of money. Then I thought about coil overs but too expensive and not enough drop for my liking. So now I am looking at maybe some adjustable shocks. What will make for a super comfy ride but still be good enough to handle weight in the back and hard cornering?
JoMac 10-26-2006, 08:34 PM I putting Monroe's with mine this weekend.
w3paint_xA_xB 10-26-2006, 08:39 PM yea i literally put my Tanabes on lastnight and im gonna be buying Monroe as well very shortly
nnnickkk 10-26-2006, 11:37 PM monroes.
Venom_Xb 10-27-2006, 03:48 PM How about Koni or Tokico? Are these adjustable shocks even worth it? The price for a set of either of these is like 560.00
I wish I would have done more research before wasting my money on the TRD crap.
RTon20s 10-27-2006, 04:24 PM There are a lot of people running the Koni with good results. On the softest of the 4 settings they supposedly ride quite well. But when you crank up the dampening, they really change the handling characteristics of the car.
I don't think anyone on this site has really messed with the Tokicos. If I am not mistaken they do offer more levels of adjustment than the Konis. I don't know where that adjustment falls compared to the Konis though. It could very well be that even the softest Tokico setting is stiffer than the stock dampening. Until someone buys them and tries them, we won't know for sure.
If you use your Scionlife discount at Ptuning before Halloween you can pick up the Tokico set for only $535 shipped.
bB2NER 10-31-2006, 03:16 AM Save the money for other stuff and get the Monroes all the way around.
rebelMan 10-31-2006, 04:21 AM What is the part number for the Monroe front struts? Are they shorter than the stock struts? I have the Monroe shocks in the rear and i know that they're overall shorter than the stock shocks which is good since the car is lowered.
cherryBox 11-05-2006, 05:43 AM what part number? there are several posts, search 'monroe part number'
Shocks #5987, $32 each
Struts #71575, $55 each
there is a part number #5870 floating around for the shocks, but those are not for the echo/xB and would be used in cases of extreme drop, greater than the df210s

the part number is #5870 and those are the ones im runnin with the df210s
i think the ride is amazing considering the drop

Thanks for the struts number. I have the 5870 shocks in the rear because i used to be on air so they were "needed".

thanks for the correction, and I have made it to my post.
are you running the monroe struts as well?
Blacklisted 11-06-2006, 03:25 AM no im rinnin the stock struts
from what i heard the monroe struts for the echo actually drop your front an additional 1/2 inch
dont take my word for it though
thats just from what i remember reading here on SL
cherryBox 11-06-2006, 03:29 AM cool thx.
I heard an excited discussion of that very idea (1/2 in drop), but let's keep it on topic for the bro...
entrust 11-08-2006, 10:22 PM i put trds on with my df210s like 22000 miles ago, and yes they blow my wife _____es everyday about how bouncy it is, im thinking about giving the monroes a shot
OHfkenKAY 11-09-2006, 09:35 PM so for around a 2 inch drop is the 5987 better or the 5870? and if it's the 5870, what car is that meant for, sears won't allow a lookup just by part number.
