View Full Version : De-badge your tC?

Why some people like to take that tC logo off their car, I wonder? I have nothing against that. I mean, it's their car. But why go through the trouble? Is it gonna make the car nicer? To me, the de-badging if not properly done, may scratch your paint. Just too much for me to handle.

Agree. I just didn't want the dealer stickers, etc. on my car. Personally I like the "SCION" and "tC" on the back.

tC is subtle enough. My matrix had a HUGE Matrix logo, toyota T-thing, and a word TOYOTA, plus the XR trim logo all on the rear hatch - that was super busy. tC is much better with that. People still have no idea what I'm driving :)

the tC was really easy to take off tho, just used a hair drier and a bottle of goo-gone

on the topic of WHY i did it, was simply because i felt that the back was out of balance since there was only a "tC" on the right side of the car, and nothing on the left to really even it out

just my .02

I will probably debadge mine, i like the stealthly look. I also think I may mask off the front, and paint the scion emblem flat black...Cause I think i read you cant take it out cause it'd have a hole there. Maybe I can pop it out, paint it, and put it back in as flat black once I get my car :-D

my number 1 reason to debadge a car....
Scion isnt paying my bills therefore i need not advertise for them.

personally i want it to bed debadged. i dont someone to run by and rip it off my car and risk scratching the paint. and IMO it looks better.

red calipers arent really my thing. if i were to paint my calipers it would either be silver or black. something that doesnt stand out as much

Im not sure why everyone keeps using a hair dryer to remove the tC emblem. It just peels right off and I had noe residue. It was easier to take off then the pinstripping. But I too used Goo-Gone. Hit it with a little Meguiars quick detailer and it was smooth as glass.

My friend keeps telling me to rebadge it with Toyota emblems? Anyone planning to do so? I would like to see pictures. :D

I don't plan on rebadging with Toyota but instead plan on replacing the Scion badge with my own custom badge. I plan on adding this badge:
http://photobucket.com/albums/v397/ScionTCiddA/?action=view&current=wildcat.jpg
The other two photos are what I used to design the badge (Go UofA Wildcats!!!)
As for the tC, it is coming off and staying off.

before you start debadging the sybmol you need to debadge that dealership logo, but my car didnt have one tho... i dont like havin that sticker of dealership place, peel that ____ off with a quickness...

why change the scion emblem now? people are gonna make nice ones with probably a different way of saying scion (S) later on in the future.

Yup, definately drove it. About 30 of those 350 miles were from my test drive. I want my tC completely bare when I get it. On yours they put the "window etching," I think that added like $150 to the price  Jayson is a nice guy, but he was supposed to call me if they got in an Indigo Ink so I could check it out, but they got one and he didn't call :(

rocketpants
07-31-2004, 05:10 PM
oh, i got mine from John Meredith there, because he was recommended from a good friend of ours

as for the window etching and the prices, i needed a car BADLY so we just paid whatever as quickly as possible and left with it cuz i knew that there wouldnt be a good chance of getting it anytime soon anywhere else :(

1 - They need to pay me to advertise their cars. 2. Looks nicer with the clean look and it only took couple of minutes.

SWF_05_tC
08-01-2004, 03:45 PM
Ok, besides all of the dealer advertisement/bading on the car, and the car looking cleaner with no "model" badges on it, why should they pay you to advertise the model of the car? You bought it, but they designed and built it, you ARE driving around someone else's finished product. No offense to anyone that thinks that way, but it just doesn't make sense. Taking the dealer crap off for the sole reason they aren't paying you is totally different. Oh well, makes no difference to me, just thought I'd put my .02 in. I'll probably debadge my tC logo too, but only because it looks cleaner.

i neve gave a damn if a car was de-badged or not... until yesterday. this guy in my next door has a charcol grey de-badged mazda 6. i walked past the car 3x before i realized what was so different about the car. it looked so clean. ive seen mazda 6 before and alway like them..but damn without that logo the look off the hook :)

09-12-2004, 02:56 AM
I think i would rather keep the emblems on the car, but I am thinking of taking them off and having them painted like a crimson or something of that color.. since the car will be BSP with dark tinted windows I think it will look sweet..

09-12-2004, 03:47 AM
I don't see why the tC emblum shouldn't be removed. The darn thing falls off with just your hand grabbing it anyway, I say take it off and have more paint to show off. :D

are you talking about the "tC" emblem or the "scion" emblem? well, i took off my tc emblem and put it in the interior of my car. just above the glove box handle. IMO it looks better off the back of the car and in the interior.

The TC emblem is just as easy to remove as the dealer emblem. And if you are worried about messing something up, your dealer will do it for you.

Mine looks 100 times better with it off!

sorry guys b/c i know i'm in a minority saying this but...

no rear badges on the tC and all i see is an older 90s honda for some reason i have no clue why, it looks unfinished in my honest opinion. or maybe not unfinished but like, homeade aftermarket looking

i'm looking for an extra tC badge to put in a debadged grill i'm about to buy i want the tC in the bottom right. and i may buy an extra one for somewhere interior. i know badging a car extra sounds awful to a lot of you but i kinda like owning a scion, though the front scion emblem i dont care for.

You can't really remove the front emblem and keep the stock grill. There will be a big blank oval spot. Check out VRD grills. No badges

on the new grilles that are like the bubble looking "drill hole" style, you cannot remove it without leaving the oval. on the older "honeycomb" style grilles, you can debadge that. i believe any grille older than 08 but i could be wrong.

I feel I did not go through any trouble debadging my tc. I simply dropped off the rear piece with the eblem still attached and the painter removed the rear badge and filled in the spot and painted it. Yes. my car in my opnion does look nicer this way.
