Has anyone further tinted their tC sunroof?
I know they come tinted, somewhere between 20 and 30% (depending on the panel). And someone else here said that it will crack. But has anyone done it successfully?

Ehh I thought it sounded strange. I definitely read it in another post I made regarding tinting. I asked my salesman about tinting it and he said it's not necessary because it's already done. But I remember reading that it's between 20 and 30% already, and I want to get the sides and backs tinted at 10 or 15, so I'd like that all to match. I'll ask the tint shop I made an appointment at what they'd recommend.

Someone told me yesterday that if you get mirrored tint (not that bling bling chrome crap), but slightly mirrored, it shouldn't crack.
I'm guessing that, instead of absorbing heat, it will reflect it??? Sound about right?

haven't heard of the cracking thing ever before, but i have been told it's usually harder to add tint to a factory tinted window. they bake the tint into the glass and for whatever reason makes it a little harder to stick. but i'm not for sure
Makes sense. Maybe it's unnecessary for me to even think about. Is the factory tint sufficient at keeping a good amount of sunlight out? Keeping in mind that I live in Arizona....
I guess it's not very popular, since people aren't posting here that they've had it done.

talked to the tint shop that did the windows and back windshield on both cars and he said he has tinted many sunroofs and none of the shattered/cracked. he's been doing it for 10+ years.
i tinted both sunroofs with 20% silver (mirrored) today and driving home at 3:00pm HST the sun was pouring in as usual but dimmer and NO heat. Before I could feel the heat on my forehead from the sunroof. I'm taking the other car in next week to do the same.

It ain't going to crack.
That's rediculous!!! Isn't the sunroof glass much like the rest of your windows. Tint doesn't absorb rediculous amounts of heat. It deflects a good portion depending on the material. The thickness of the tint is not enough to retain excessive heat. Also, how do you think glass is made? Besides, in the automotive industry, glass has to be tempered to a degree so when those hot days come it will be fine especially when heat is reinforced in a closed atmosphere.
It is true though that adding tint to windows will increase the glass temperature "SLIGHTLY" because of the reflection of the light spectrum frequencies particularly the UV spectrum. What happens when you add tint to glass is that not only is the sunlight UV and other spectrums are being passed through the glass, but the tint is reflecting it back through the glass medium at a lesser intensity which constitutes in the reinforcement of heat retained in the glass medium. But, it is not enough to crack glass.
That's absurd! Glass cracking because of tint. That is almost comparable to the revolutionary speed chip sold on ebay that is a resistor put in air temp. sensor. Gives you up to 25 HP!
Dat Dude
