Default New tC where to start?

Hi guys I just got my new tC, I really like it. But anyways its my first 5 spd and Im not 100% comfortable with it yet. What RPMS do you guys usually shift around? And does the car need to be driven a certain speed or under a certain RPM for a break in period? And finally I want to start getting some more power and some better looks for my car. What do you guys think?

1. I usually shift around 3000RPM When I'm just cruising, it keeps it in a pretty good powerband.

2. Don't beat the **** out of it for at least the first 1000 miles.

3. There's a wealth of knowledge right here on where to get your power, and looks too.

Congrats on your new tC and enjoy.

Start with I/H/E, cathodes look good under the dash and in the engine bay. Oznium.com, Superbrightleds.com for lights. Mcgeorgeparts.com, trdsparks.com, ptuning.com all great for parts. PM me more for any questions. Oh yeah, make sure you search around.

There, I said it, no one else rip him for not searching, it's been said.

Yeah, pretty much what everybody said. The first thing you should do is buy a new antenna than maybe drop it or put tint.

Keep it stock. Learn how to drive your car first and read up on the forums to know more about your Scion. You'll figure out what you want to do with it later on. Remember, function before fashion.

i second that.. this is my second stick, however i only had my first one for less than a month so i am still learning how to drive it day by day, and trust me.. you will want the stock height while you are still learning, its hard enough gettin in and out of driveways regularly(not anymore )

but, as everyone says, lowering a car usually makes it look a helluva lot better

Congrats on the new car!

Sorry to be a bit of a wet blanket, but spend some cash on a finance book, and learn the power of compounding interest and time value of money.

I'm not trying to be a jerk, just trying to give you a little heads up. Interest always compounds against you on a vehicle, and always compounds with you in an IRA. I always take half of my "fun money" and save it for later. That, my friend, is the difference between wealthy and average when you are 50, all else being equal.

Again, sorry to be a wet blanket---> BTW my first mod was AEM Cai and I would NEVER be able to go back to stock.

Have fun...

I agree with going easy on it for the first 1000 miles.

If I was you, my first mod would be a CAI, and then an exhaust.

I'm waiting on the possibilty of doing headers until after my 60000 miles part of my warranty has occurred. Just because my service advisor said that if I put on headers before and have an engine problem it could be blamed on them and any repair work would cost instead of being covered under warranty.

if you are not comfortable driving 5 spd yet, try moving the drivers seat closer to the pedals so that you are right on top of em. i get a lot better feel for when the clutch begins to engage when i do this. try it out; it made one hell of a difference for me. nothing more satisfying then clean, seamless shifts.
