Default Toyota + WRC = The Return of the Team Europe Corolla WRC

Not sure if this slipped under the radar or not but WRC.com (official site for FIA WRC competition) posted a news story about Toyota returning to WRC competition.

http://www.wrc.com/page/News/Breakin...934499,00.html

Read it closely and it even says that they went thru homologation, which I thought FIA dumped in 1998(which is why I don't ever remember seeing that bad ___ Corolla WRC from 98-99 ever get sold)

Has anyone else seen this? Anyone seen the car? And how did the world miss this news? And one last AND, US Corolla GT-FOUR anyone? =D

FOUND PICTURES! It looks like a Yaris O.o

To be honest, I really don't care if it's a Yaris or a Corolla. Just seeing a Toyota playing in the mud again has lifted my spirits. Enjoy.

PS. It sort of looks like a 4 door hatch, not sure though.

thats what the original was designed from was a 4 door hatch with the 3sgte platform. i don't know if we'll see it here but thats great for toyota to break back into since they got in trouble before. knowing how things are going for scion they might try to do something with this too which would make more news for us.

It's just too bad that TV coverage of the WRC is minimal here in the States.

Hmm the sert Xa looks interesting, but I'd still rather have the original Corolla WRC or the gloriousness of the ST205WRC(Celica GT-FOUR WRC version) mmm 3S-GTE

it would never be the same with all the safety equipment that would be required to be installed on it.

You know a Yaris could be quite competitive if it has a decent sized engine (3sgte please?) and AWD. Since Toyota purchased Suburu it would make sense to 'borrow' some things from them and put it to use.

I'd like to see a Toysub Yaris WRX STi Alltrac.

toyota already had an exllent awd system the issue with the cars they were put in was they rotted out fast which is why you don't see them. very offten.

What they needed was an active diff instead of the sloppy 50/50 split they gave us. Back in the day it worked, but whew I don't feel like dishing out $25K for a working unit today.

Toyota back in the game for a drivers/manufactuer's championship? Yeah right. They're most obviously going to go for a productions title or something. I doubt we'll ever see a toyota in WRC...I'll be just as excited if they start using it for the championship. Heck, I was quite excited for the underdog Hyndai Accent when that had a debut in 2000.

As for rally being televised in the US, I'm quite angered by that. A bit off topic but, I'm quite dissapointed in the efforts of the "Speed Channel" only giving audiences Nascar, Truck, and "american" things. It's kind of borring.

if you mean the SE one, it'd need some work to be competative, like suspension for one thing, and a lil more beef to the motor. Maybe not the motor stuff as much but stock suspension won't work, and last I heard from them, that's what they had. (last I heard was before holloween tho)

I have seen one or two things on the JGTC, but some dirt (rally)/ drift would be nice! I mean I like left turns at 182mph as much as the next guy....but really....show us somehting else.
