6000k is as far as u can go... (light blue/white mix)

8000k is technically illegal (deep blue) as is anything deeper in color

...with that i am still putting in 8000k hids... hehehe

weird... my mom has a new bmw x5 that comes with outputs of light that appear to be 6000k (light blue in appearance)

are the high end automakers using non-dot approved ligts?

The projectors color shift a bit, from what i've seen. Ever been on a bumpy road with a car with projectors (Audi's, BMW's, etc) behind you? I've seen 'em color shift from blue to white to normal.

BMW uses true HID, which is 4300k

you can only have amber or white on the front of the car and only amber, red, or white on the back
you might be able to get away with it for a while but get some cop on a bad day and you'll be getting a ticket

true story...i got pulled over twice in 1 week for having red cobra eyes on my hood...this was 3 weeks after having multicolored christmas lights wrapped all over my car for christmas...i guess they all got bitter after new years

haha... now that is the truth ltj... i see cheap hondas with BLUE leds on the hood. i guess quiet things is giving us the "letter of the law" response, which is needed in this discussion as well.

i will put on my 8000k and hope i see no evil cops i guess.

I got pulled over last week and the cop made no mention of my HIDs. Where I drive in NJ, he'd have to pull over every other car.

any headlights that didnt come with the car are illegal in new jersey. HID's are illegal if they didnt come with the car. They are for offroad purposes only...lol
