I want to keep the factory radio, i just love the steering wheel controls, its just to nice. But I have a mono and four channel MTX amp that was in my last car and i just got to have them.

I want to get all the speakers, and a woofer, and connect all of them to the amps. Has anyone used the stock radio and installed a system. I know there is a way to do it. What am i looking at here, in terms o money? This is definatly gonna happen soon. Someone please give me some input. What you think?

 

This is a commonly done system upgrade. You'll need the following:

Line Out Converter (LOC), $20
Amp wiring kit $15-100, depending on wattage
Subs to match amp, $40-250
Box or box building supples, $20-100

My system consists of the stock HU, to a Tsunami LOC to a PPI amp. The amp powers the front stock speakers and a single 8" RF sub.

 

whith LOC would i have to take out the HU? How much would they charge to do a setup like this at a store? Im feeling real lazy to be honest.

You think the stock speakers could hold up to 35 watts rms from an MTX amp?

 

Well I have finalized my sound system, It will consist of

5.25 blaupunkt components in the front doors
6.5 kenwood 2 ways in rear door
Stock Radio with LOC
4 channel MTX amp 35X4
mono MTX Amp 250X1 at 4 ohms
Visonik 10 inch Bandpass sub
1 farad Cap
Its not gonna drive the neighbors crazy but it will be loud enough to be heard inside the car going 85 with windows down.

What you guys think, Im just gonna go to a local install shop and pay the 300-400 bucks for install, i really dont feel like taking the car apart.

 

I kept the stock head because of the steering wheel conrols, and the ipod connection. Plus keeps you a lot safer from jackers. I use two alpine mono 600 w amps, and two alpine 10" type-e's. It sounds really good and clean. Its not crazy loud, waking everybody up, but it sounds great on the inside, and thats where it conts. If you want to impress random strangers, get a new hu.
