Default quick dealer question

If I brought my car into the dealer to have them check something out, and they find something wrong that isn't covered under the warranty, will they let me know before they start working on the car so I have a chance to drive over to a local cheap mechanic instead to have it done? Or will they just start working on the car and hand me a bill?

no legal shap can do any work on your car with out you giving them the ok to do it first.. they can check your car an tell you what is wrong but can't start work with out your ok frist... if they do you don't have to pay for work you didn't authorize

they might still charge you for them checking the car though.

Most dealerships charge a $99.99 diagnostic fee that may or may not go towards your bill if you choose to have the work done there. At my place we wont put the 99.99 towards your bill if you have us do the work. Kind of unfair for the customers.

Just because it is covered under warranty doesn't mean the dealership doesn't get money. They get reimbursed through scion/toyota. Nothing is free....
