I just bought some 18" x 7.5" rims. I'm still in the process of looking for tires to go with them (either 215/35/18 or 215/40/18..?)
However, I've already decided to get some Tein S-tech springs put on next week, cuz it sounded like a good deal (shout out to "J" at StreetImage).
The question is - should I wait till I get my tires and put my wheels on my Xb, or will I be ok if I get the Teins and then throw on the wheels afterwards..?
I've read that most people are find with the Teins and the 18"s. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

get springs first. at least a 2" drop. cuz if you don't, you will be dissapointed. If you get less than a 2" drop, atleast get some 45 series rubber to fill the gap

you've already got the tires, put 'em on. Screw it. You can do it either way - no RULE to it
I've done it both ways myself. Some cars I've gotten the wheels for it first, some others were lowered first - but have at least always done them both within a week or so of each other
Bright side is that if you put the tires on, you'll be motivated to get it lowered everytime you look at that big space from the fender to the rubber.

He said he's got the wheels but not tires yet.
I drove my box lowered on the stock wheels/tires for a while.

With spinners!
I went the otherway ofcourse, and rolled 18's with the "factory lift kit" for almost 6 months. (Stock height)
Oh, I'd recommend getting 40 series. I got the 35, and maybe it's just the way I drive, but I've dinged the ____ out of my rims on 35's and even bent the lip of one of my rims. I'm doing more and more bunouts to justify buying a new set of 40 series.
35's look great parked, but personally, I'd like to run 40's for commuting and see if it makes a difference.

There is no rule on what to do first, however, I never recommend doing both things at once! I recommend to my customers to decide which step is the most important to you, "Lowering" or new "Wheels & Tires" and then pick the drop and or wheel & tire size and do that first! Once you choose a direction, you need to accept the fact you may be limiting your options when you take the second step!
