Default Local Auto Courses

Hello gang...

I'm looking at taking some automotive technology classes in the area (and Mo might as well if they have an evening program).

I'm thinking Green River CC only because that is where I got my AA years ago and I know that they offer the program (they are also close to where I live). My dad wouldn't let me take automotive classes back when I was young so this would show him ;)

But my question to you guys...is this a good program? Or is there a better one? Anyone with recommendations or experience with local schools or programs?

Lake Washington vo-tech has an excellent program, but it would be a drive for you! (Totem Lake/Kirkland). The advantage for me was I wasn't going for credit so it was cheaper!

ummm crap... there is a CC up there that has a T-10 (toyota certified) sponsored automotive program. the problem is that there are only 2 T-10 programs in the state. one is in lakewood/tacoma area and the other is down here at Clark CC in vancouver. i cant remember for the life of me what the one up there is called.

What is the difference with the Toyota Certification...and where is the Tacoma/Lakewood one?

Pierce College at Ft. Steilacoom?
Bates?
Clover Park?
Tacoma CC?

any auto course you take is going to be "sponsored" by a certain certification program. unfortunately the one i took was a GM sponsored program. in my program most of the teachers were old salts from GM dealers and what not. T-10 programs are the same just toyota guys. i would recommend this over any other. i honest to god cant remember what college it is. look it up. i just know its in the tacoma/lakewood area.

I hear Clover Park Tech and Renton Technical College have good ones.

People come from all over the country to attend Clover Park... no joke, likely one of the best in the nation!

I was looking at the Shoreline courses and the Toyota certification means I'd have to work at an internship at the dealership for 2-4 quarters...I'm just looking to learn more hands-on about cars so I guess the general courses may have to be the way to go.
