ya bro...you'll be paying out the a$$ till you're at least 25...

I commuted for years in and out of Boston...it's wicked expensive...why do you think I moved to N.H. And like Mr. Bird told you...you already have three strikes against you...new car, 16 years old, and in the city (I won't say ghetto)...take the 1500 and run...

I must be the luckiest in the group; IIRC, it's under $900, but I have an absolutely PERFECT record (no tickets, no accidents for over 6 years [in reality, none ever]). I guess that establishes the lower bound for insurance costs.

Hopefully that legislature they passed this year (including a 11.7% rate cut in 2007) will make things a bit more sane. AFAIK, Geico, AIG, etc. don't want to do business in Massachusetts because of the way the state sets the rates, and other related factors.

After 6 years with a perfect record, your rate drops drastically and you get a much more realistic premium.

it drops a little after the 3 year mark too. Mine dropped $900 which was great, but even after that Im still at a rediculous $2300 with a perfect record.

obviously after 6 years and perfect driving record your rates drop drastically... the lady told me in 1.5 yrs my premium will go from $2300 to $900... because I will have a perfect driving record also...

if I wouldve got my license at 16, then my insurance would be low. But I got license at 18 so I have another year before it drops. Also have a clean record.

I have Metlife only because I get a 6% discount thru work.

Steps...points, whatever. They're still screwin' us. It's now the SDIP (Safe Driver Insurance Plan) and per the letter I got:

This policy will receive an SDIP premium increase (surcharge) for each operator with points from 01 through 45, or a premium decrease (credit) for each operator with the Excellent Driver Discount Credit Code (98 ) or the Excellent Driver Discount Plus Credit Code (99).

There's a whole lot more about how points are added or subtracted, incident free periods, yada, yada, yada.
I'm a 98 (excellent driver - yeah baby!), but my wife is a 04 and my son a 00. Ironic that I drive the tC and a 175 mph capable Ninja ZX11, and she drives a Caravan - but she has the points and the surcharge. Better her than me! (even though I pay for it all anyway  )
