Default Headlights keep going out, what the deal?

About how often should I have to replace my factory headlights?

I've owned my tC since March of 06, and about 2 months ago my right headlight went out. Well, Toyota replaced it for me for free. Now the left just went out. I'm gonna go see about getting that replace Tuesday.

Is it normal for these headlights to be going out this frequently? Or is that just the normal lifespan of a headlight. 6 or 7 months?

Recommend replacing the factory's with HID's maybe?

Also, I don't know if it would make a difference but I'm running (2) 12" subs on a 1000 watt two channel amp, with the factory speakers replaced all around with polk 6 1/2"s and the Head Unit replaced with a Eclipse CD4000 head unit.

Would that possibly affect my headlights? Power consumption or something? I am clueless.

No shouldn't affect the life, and yes, replace with HIDs.

How does one go about gettings these "HID's" How much, how much to install or is it easy enough to do it yourself? Also what are the chances that the HID's just go out like the factory bulbs do. That would suck to spend all that money just to figure out something else is causing all kinds of bulbs to burn out.

and if you buy a cheap "kit", then it would go out faster than the stock bulbs. What bulbs do you have in there now? Is it just the low beam bulb going out or the turn signal, parking light, side marker and high beam bulbs going out too? I would just buy some 9005 Sylvania Silverstars and do this mod.....

i bought my sister the 9005 silverstars for xmas and did this mod for her when she went back to Houston. She said she noticed a difference right away! She was shocked on how much light is on the road now. I myself am also happy with mine and have had them in for a good while now and still going strong!

if you dont know much about HID's then i suggest stay away from them! Not trying to be an a$$ or anything but dont work with anything you dont know about.

*reading up on the silverstars and mod now*

Appreciate the help!

You have another issue. Stock bulbs should not go out like that. I think I have replaced one set of bulbs on my last car in 5 years.

HIDS are 100% not worth it if you are only looking at it from a cost of replacement perspective. Once working correctly, a stock setup with decent halogens will last a good chucnk of the life of the car, you would have to replace a LOT of them to repay the difference for HID's.

If you go HID, you better do your homework and do it right (projectors and all). If you dont, they will blind other drivers (who IMO should track you down and kick them in ), leak, have poorer vision than stock, etc. So do the conversion right (dont skimp on $$) and make sure they are aimed correctly.

Personally, I can see slightly better with HIDs than with a good set of halogens.. so to me they are not near worth the money. Some like the bling factor.. but I dont see why. The last thing I notice about a car are the headlights.

Before you do anything though, you should see why they are dying on you like that. Maybe faulty connectors, loose fittings alowing them to vibrate more than normal, etc.
