Just for the record, I dont own a Scion. For my best friend's birthday, Im going to do the "red out" mod for her third brake light. Ive already got the film and whatnot, I was just curious if the third brake light was easily uninstalled from the hatch? I tried making a couple searches, but couldnt come up with anything. Im wanting to be sneaky about this, as its a suprise. Thanks in advance.

 

You should be able to install the film without removing the light in a few minutes.

 

I thought so too, but my film is not precut. I was hoping it would come out easy that way I didnt have to worry about scratching her paint.

 

Yeah, you don't wanna scratch the paint. Lemme look around a bit an' see if I can help you out.

 

if you remove the 3rd brake light form the vehicle, you'll be breaking the foam doublesided tape that sealed sit in... no worry really...

but you remove 8 nuts from the inside of the hatch after taking apart the plastic panel pieces out.

Well stealing her TBL isnt really sneaky if she goes to her trunk and sees a hole in her hatch..i think your best bet is to just go to her house in the middle of the night and do it right before her b-day. if its in the garage tell her parents to give u a remote or to open it for you
