Professional smoked tails Seattle area
Can anybody refer me to a place that can smoke my tail lights for me? I bought vinyl overlays, but it really bugs me that there's always going to be little ripples, and I don't want to do the nite shades myself. If anyone has gotten this done professionally in the Seattle area please let me know where you went, price, etc. Thanks!

Brian (BCS) and Tim (WeDriveScions) had smoked taillights if I remember correctly. They may be able to refer you!
And...nice to see another female around here...we're getting close to 1 out of 4 so let's keep this up!!! I want a true 50/50 someday!

ny tint or graphics/sign shop should be able to do, they will just throw out a big discalaimer before hand, "I can't warranty/ guaantee it because it didn't come from us." I would call around and see who is willing to do it. Shouldn't be more and $20 i would think...
I actually had my taillights painted to match the color of the car. When I was getting the body kit painted, I had them do the taillights at the same time. I would not recommend this unless you A) are only using them for car shows AND B) have another set of taillights.
I never drove with my other taillights on because they were too dark to see the brake lights.
If you want to go that route, any paint shop will be able to do it. If you want to use the vinyl, and graphics shop will be able to apply it for you. It really shouldn't be that difficult. I use to do graphic design and vinyl work, and it just takes a little time. There shouldn't be any ripples in it at all.

One thing you can do is go to a hobby store or a paint store and buy some spray paint. Just get the smoke or tint color. Usually they will have a degree of tint printed on the can.
Take out your taillights, cover any part you don't want painted with newspaper, then spray away. The best part is, if you mess up, a little paint thinner will take it all off. You could even throw a layer of clear coat on it if you want, to make it a little more shiny.
To be honest with you, that is all a paint place is going to do. They'll just charge you 10x the amount to do it.

Just to add on to that, you can find a product called VHT Nite tshades that can do the same thing as BCS has talked about. You can find it on Jegs.

And if you do a search some people have talked about the processes that they have used to apply it.

Ok... after working with Nightshades and vinyl overlays and such...
ONLY one solution...
Jonstintedtails.com it's like 90 bucks or so to get them done, and you can pick your shade and even have custom stuff like reverse light masking and such...
If you set it up with him, you can do a three or four day downtime on your ride to have it done, or like me, just buy stock tc tails on ebay for dirt cheap and have them done... The most cost effective is to just not have a car for three days and have them taken care of...
Trust me... Even nightshades setups don't compare... (Guys with both the vinyl and nightshades setups have commented on how much better my setup is)

VHT is definitely the way to go. It's actually painted on so no need to worry about ripples or tint peeling off. I've seen really back tinted tails and vinyl and VHT tails, but the best smoked tails I have seen are those done with VHT and a nice polishing method (like the ones I can make for you, lol.. check out the link)
