GM is bringing over the Opel Astra in late 2007 to add to their new Saturn lineup. Their will be a 5 and 3 door versions. Price tag should start around $16k so just about what I predict to be in the xD's range.

the astra is an incredibly popular car around the world, and it has its merits. it has good looks going for it (at least in the 3 door version) and has good european sensibility in its design. however, since it's gonna be under the saturn brand, don't expect it to become a blowout success.

 

I don't know, Saturn has been making a huge turn around recently. I actually like some of their cars! the 100k warranty doesn't hurt either, even though it's only 5yrs. I guess we'll just have to see...

i totally agree that Saturn (and maybe even GM in general) has had a huge turn around recently, because they finally realize that their cars are not as great as they thought they were. Even so though, the Saturn image is what makes the brand and that image is not something people readily get excited about (unless it's the loyal customer base).
i would totally try out the astra though.
as long as i can get rid of the saturn badging. it's remarkably ugly.

bleh the astra use to look so much better or maybe that was the calibra(sp?) from Gran Turismo 3 anyways yea if i had one of those i would definently debadge it and put the original Opel badges on.
