Default Will price go up or down?

Hello, newbie here.

I think that xB is one of the best car in the market and I am ready to purchase one.
I love the look of the original and I am not ready to buy new from a dealer, so I think my best opportunity is to find one off Craigs as a 2004, manual.

KBB presents the 2004 model value at $12K, but I think I can get one for less than $10K. What are your thoughts?

Do you think the original xB price will go up due to higher demand in the older model?
Do you have any recommendations?

Thank you,

Around here the used stock ones go pretty cheap. The more people dump into them they more they are going to want out of them. I've seen stock 04s for under 10 on Craigslist. I can't see prices going up on them until they become harder to find.

It will be interesting to see if the price drops once the new version is out. Not sure how many people will trade theirs in for the new one. I don't think the price will go up--but it might just not go down as fast........

I can't find the list right now, but recently somebody (consumer reports?) created a top-ten list of currently-manufactured cars that were holding their value the best.

xB was number 3. xA was number nine.

somebody brought it up on another car group I'm on because all the top 10 were imports and all the bottom 10 were domestics. Whoops.

Since the pics of the new xB have been posted, many people are saying that it's ugly/not as fuel efficient with the larger engine, etc etc etc. I think the only people that will value the xB are ones that are liking the current model.

Looking on ebay, I'm noticing so many 05 and 06 models auctions are ending at no more than 11 grand...

So I think, as a sign of nature, that prices will go down simply because a new model is out - whether or not people like it...

I may actually be buying another brand new xB when the new models go on sale. I bought my current xB, an 06, for $17,700 out the door (taxes, etc). although i feel like an idiot buying the car new since I see ones on craigslist for half the price, it was brand new and had only 1 mile on the odo. I know for sure that it's well taken care of by me in terms of maintenence and that I'm not going to have problems with it down the road!

Just as reference I bought a used 2005 (auto) with extended warranty from a dealer for $12500 in Oct '06.

It had around 25k miles on it and came with:
- spoiler
- bumper cover
- neon interior
- lighted cup holders
- trunk mat
- armrest
- TRD/AEM intake
- auto dim mirror/compass

Good luck. The deals are out there.
