Default 17" vs 18" wheels

been lurking for a while...here is my first post. Recently purchased a 2007 FM tC and loving it. Adding mods as I have the time. Here is something I would like to get a few opinions on. I have the stock 17" tires and Yoko tires. I want to upgrade to a 225 tire and will probably move these tires and possibly rims to one of my other cars. Money is not an object and I am perfectly happy with the look of the stock rims. I was initially thinking of switching to 18" wheels with 225/40/18 tires. However, the other option is to do a 'plus zero' fitment and go 225/40/17. I will be lowering with the TRD springs and struts here soon. On the one hand, going with a plus zero would leave the diameter of the tire as close to OEM as possible while moving to 225/40/18 would make the tire a little taller. On the other hand, 18" wheels do look nicer and if I go with aluminum I may be able to save some weight over stock. Was planning on switching to the Toyo Proxes 4 since Les Schwab owns Oregon.
I would love to hear other people's thoughts and opinions on which way to go.

Your decision depends on 2 things IMHO...
1. Performance- Go with 17s.
2. Show- Go with 18s.

I went with 18s with 225/40 tires and I don't regret it one bit.

The stocks are 17x7, stock tire size 215/45/17. If you got 17x8s, I've heard that 245 width tires are the way to maximize performance.

For best 17" go with 17X8 with offset +45 with 245/40/17, and you got yourself a handling machine.

I agree with everyone else. I would go with a 235 tire just so it's not too stretched out on the wheel. I have some wheels on sale at:

The 17s only weight about 22lbs, so not too bad for a good look and the right fitments.
