Default Oil catch can and toyota tards...

The toyota tech I was talking to today as I was having a part installed took one look at my oil catch can and grimaced...he said it would "lower crankcase pressure" and that these toyotas run so clean that on a tC it is unnecessary, as nothing oily comes out of the crankcase. He then said that I should take it off, or risk voiding my warranty. I like my catch can, it's pretty. Argh.

well.. they are pretty unnecessary.. he's got that part right...

if you want it for prettiness... then sure...
but functionality? yeah... not really.. might make things worse really than beneficial.

unless your on boost.. catch cans are somewhat non functional.. reducing engine clutter is always better..

why wouldnt lowering the crank case pressure be good? A huge catch can would be bad but something little like the DIY one i found on here for 30 bucks would be fine...because you might now notice the engine sucking oil into the intake pipe but it does. And at high rpms, the increased vac from aftermarket intakes causes it pull more and it gets into throttle bodys and intakes and cloggs stuff up.

If you just want it because it looks neat, mount it but don't hook it up.

And yes, I know the term for doing that...

I installed one on my car and removed my pcv and it helped alot. No more oil in my intake and better response from my supercharger.
