Default SPUN OUT on a snowy highway today exiting Boreal! =[

me and my friend went up to Boreal today and when we started to leave we spun out in the highway. now i can say DO NOT GO TO THE SNOW WITH THE STOCK TIRES!!! that is a big no no. FORTUNATELY, we are ok and came out of it without a scratch, but my front bumper took a nasty dent on the side corner. now i have to buy a new bumper. if anyone is selling a FLINT MICA or unpainted bumper let me know.

what do you guys recommend for snow tires? i think, im going to be purchasing a set pretty soon.

ahhh!?! awww man..

even the stock tires suck horribly in the rain.... much less snow! should've gotten those elstic "chain" thingys if you were expecting alot of snow driving...

hmm.. are you looking for a good all-season tire that's good for snow? or something specific made for winter?

I have the Dunlop SP Winter Sport M3's and am pretty happy with them. They are a performance winter tire so they handle fairly well for the times when the roads are clear, just dont crazy with them, because they are still a winter tire. They handle much better than the squirrely Bridgestone Blizzak WS-50's I have owned and I cant really tell a difference in winter traction between the two. The Dunlop's tread seems to be a little harder so they should last longer whereas the Bridgestone's tread seems to be softer, but supposedly better for ice traction.

the weird part was that I did have chains with me, but there was not chain requirement at the time. the road just looked wet not shiny or anything. i guess it was due to all the snow that built up as we were leaving the park. i want know about snow tires. i havent really looked into buy them because i thought buying chain would cut it, but i dont want to take that risk of guess whether or not i need chains or not. thanks in advance.

Word... the stock potenzas do blow. My old corolla had Potenza RE950s and those were awesome in the rain. Now when it rains I have to be careful not to spin out the tires. My ABS kicks in every once in a while too when I'm braking going downhill near my house and I hit the painted "STOP" letters. The RE950s never slipped when I went to the same stop sign.

Oh man. Last year when leaving, I witnessed a GTO lose control and skid right into the ditch when getting on the highway leaving Boreal.

Yokohama IG721 Ice Guard snow tires
A bit expensive at $169 but great tires and very little road noise and as a bonus I'm trying to get rid of mine which have only 600 miles on them due to me moving to a place where it doesnt snow. I can do $400 shipped which is a bargain for these practically new tires. If interested let me know asap because if not these are getting shipped with the movers.
