My dealer told me it will start at $16,000 and will be at dealers by august. xb2 coming out next month starting at $17,000.

That would be utter nuttiness. They say their target market is youth, but if their entire line starts at $17k+, then they need to change that market to "white collar youth".

There is absolutely no way it will start at 16k. I'm guessing right around 14k even.

Consider this:

tC is $16,980
-Includes 17" alloy wheels
-Fully independent suspension
-2.4 L engine
-Completely glass roof
-Z rated tires
-4 wheel disc brakes

xD
-16" steelies w/ cover
-twist beam rear suspension
-rear drum brakes
-1.8 L engine

If the xD is going to be at all competitive with the Fit or the Versa (and it will), expect it to come in around $14,000 to $14,500 including destination. Keep in mind that a similarly equipped Versa is right around $14,000 while the Fit is about $14,500.

My guess,

xD starts from $14k-$15k

xB starts from $15k-$16k

As long as the price stays right around where the xA is, I'll be pleased.

One thing I always wanted to know, why is there a destination charge if you buy the car off the lot? They don't have to have it shipped to you from somewhere out of state or anything, it's already on the lot when you go to buy it.

It's destination is the lot. It came from Japan.

Yes, they charge YOU for that.

well if thats the case then you would think that shipping to Guam would be alot cheaper that the $1025,00 that the dealer is charging. lol have the distance more than twice the price

i read somewhere that the price of the new cars will be about $1000 to $1500 more than what the 1st gens are selling for. I'm going to get the xb2, and i don't think that is correctomundo. I saw it in person and its still small, can't really tell they made it larger, but it just LOOKS more expensive. I guess ill just have to wait to be sure of the price.

How come when I go out to eat they don't tell me "the meal is 21.97, but with the desination charge to get the food to this resturaunt we have to charge you and extra 8 bucks."

Because your $21.97 dinner only cost about $5 in product cost, and about $2 for the restaraunt to make it. That's a heck of a profit margin if you ask me. If the restaraunt operated on a new car profit margin, then the dinner would be $7 * 1.03 = $7.21

The dealer on the other hand, if their margins were like that of restaraunts, would charge $14k * 3.13 = $43,820

If you can figure out how to mail a post card with no cost, then you need to get into the shipping business, because there is a lot of money in transporting cars all over the world.

xb2 will now be $15,650 base so the xd will have to be an easy $1k less.
