Default Dezod black box owners... How's everything running?

I thought I'd make a follow up post on the black boxes we sold. We've sold a LOT of those units, and for all types or turbo kit setups. I'm making this post to see how you guys are liking the unit. Are the questions, concerns, or suggestions for future models or products?

Let me know guys! Your feedback helps us improve our product for you down the road!

Love it! I'm running it a Turbonetics turbo kit with the unichip on stock tune and its perfect. 1-3 psi 13's afs, 4-5psi in the 12's the 7-8psi in the 11's. My brother was up visiting me last weekend and he drove my car and he said it felt like a different car and the only difference between our cars is the black box. A+ for the black box.

so far so good, a little rich with the stock map you guys provided on the high end, not complaining. I'm rather impressed with it. Still haven't tuned it yet, waiting on exhaust and tranny work.

Mines running great with the same pre-tune. No need to change something that isn't broke. Thanks Joe!

Yes you can. The problem is that when you floor it this unit doesn't do anything at that point. It's for daily driving. The extreme still needs to be covered and for the money the Emanage Ultimate and the blue are great options.

What does the black box do? I don`t quite understand it? Like does it help give the car a good pull in the low RPMs?

^ it helps control the air/fuel when the car is driving slower and not at WOT (meaning the gas all the way down).

not sure about mine. sometimes i see it hit boost at low rpms and jump to 6 to 7psi still at 14afr, but that could be because my lcd screen isnt updating as fast as the changes are happening. hard to say, i will have to datalog again.

makes is safe to boost partial throttle. unless your in open loop (mainly WOT) the ecu will adjust to run an afr of ~14.7. this is considered lean when under boost. the black box allows you to tune at partial throttle off of boost pressure.

i got mines when there was a preorder and got mines with their base tune pre loaded and it is EXCELLENT!

This is true. LCD readouts lag a ton on the values.

So, the black box comes with a base map and you just plug it into the E-Manage and you`re good to go? Then you have to tune it???

i don't think they offer it with a base map, that was for the preorder. to install it, it needs a vac signal and you need to splice into 4 wires.

I'm still having trouble with mine. Paul helped me over the phone a couple of times, and Joe really helped out by providing the pre-tune.

Sometimes it seems to work and my AEM Wideband displays readings of about 13.6 AFR below 5 psi (partial throttle). And sometimes I feel the knock sensor kick in and retard timing, the car abruptly loses power, and my gauge pegs at 10.0 AFR.

I've tried slightly altering the tune multiple times by slightly lowering the values on the map, to add slightly more fuel, but nothing seems to work.

Satoman44 (a fellow Hawaiian Turbo tC Driver!) who installed his own Black Box to much success, helped me install mine. I'm confident of the install, and it was actually really easy (considering I installed my own Emanage Blue, without a PnP Harness). I checked the Vac source to the Black Box using the R4 Controller's Real Time Display functions and my Laptop, and the pressure sensor seems to be working fine.

I'm ready to give up. I'm just wondering if I have a bad box.

I hope there's something you guys can do

according to my tuner slight alteration in one part of the black box's map has the ability to cause a huge change in another part of the map. not sure if this help.

to accelerate quickly without spinning the tires

nah, sometimes i just like to go a "little" faster but don't feel like totally spinning out the tires.
