6000k HID, the color is slightly purple!?
I just got some HID, along with BMW ballast. And the hid when I look at them they are pure white, but when it aim at the car bumper in front of me it give off the color pruple a slighty bit? Why is that?
6000k is white with more of a hint of purple than blue.... so what your seeing is probably correct
Here's what my 6000k HIDs look like:

At some angles u'll catch some blue.

naw, i just got some 6000K HIDs, they're supose to be white, with a bluish tint.
you dun see the blue really unless u look at it from the side, but if u go head on, u see nothing but white.
and i think with only 10000K+ you get any tint of purple

Explaintion of colors with a projector:
The reflective shield cuts off some of the light giving off some color
MY theory:
The reflective housing reflect light off some where in the headlamp that cut some light off thus in some angles u see a bit of blueish/purple color.
For the bumper explaination, a bumper is not a flat like a wall, but somewhat rounded, perhaps at a particular angle it reflected the color into your eyes

from the way the chart is set up it should have no purple.... chart from one end to the other goes red, yellow, white, blue, uv. The 6000k should be in the pure white a little towards the blue end. Where as a 12,000k is in the uv part. So I think raWr215 explaination is the best bet.... heres the color chart for those who want to see it....
When you shine it on somebody bumper, does it give off the color purple a very light way? When I look into the bolt it's white slightly blue. And when I shine it onto my washer its give out pure white color. hmmm

kaixen 6000k

perfectly white. and if you look at the color spectrum blue comes before purple... so a lot of the HID companies have their colors wrong because it's supposed to go red>orange>yellow> green> blue> than purple> ultra violet.... the higher the K would be the higher the color temp purple being highest hence a lot of 12k lights being purple, and red being lowest, but they really can't have red for headlights so 3500k are yellow... white is in the middle
