Default '06 Xb Stress Crack in the winshield ...Help!!!!

bought Torched Penny Xb Jan. 26th March 8th came out to go to work and saw 6" verticle crack in windshield on right side, over last couple weeks it turned right and has grown to 24". took it back to dealership, they say we don't cover windshield cracks. Problem is they can't find where a rock hit it. They took out a pen and it is as smooth as a baby's butt. On the 1st Gen Scion Owner's forum many people hav eseen this happen. Seems to be a design problem. Anybody else had this problem and how have you handled it???? Any help will be appreciated.

Default Good News on the Windshield

Weel, thanks to one of our members on this forum, the lovely Lorrie, I went to Fred Haas Toyota on 45N in Houston Yesterday afternoon and the service manager looked at my windshield and agreed that it was a warrantable item and they are ordering my new windshield. The first young man that came out to help me could not make a decision about it. he had to get the maanger. I asked him why so many were cracking and he made a sign with his hand showing that the glass was too thin or something like that. I asked the manager if he could use an aftermarket glass and he said no. It had to be Toyota parts. so if the glass from Toyota is really inferior they will probably be replacing it again. I went first to the place where I bought the vehicle, Mike Calvert Toyota, and they were shaking there heads and telling me no before I even finished telling them what the problem was. They were not helpful or sympithetic at all.
I just wanted to tell you guys that if you have a problem there is someone on the internet that can help you. Scion owners helping Scion owners. That is what the motto of this forum should be. Thanks for all your help on this matter.

Larry,

You are quite welcome. I am glad Fred Haas was able to help you. They actually called me back to make sure I was happy with the service and told me that if I get a survey to give them excellent ratings, and if I bring the survey back to them, I will get a free oil change.

I hope my new windsheild holds up, but if it doesn't, then I will certainly be back.

The glass company that installed the windshield was able to get my new EZ Tag off my old windsheild and attach it to my new one, and IT WORKS! I was afraid that I was going to have to get a new one.

Good luck!
