Not an audio expert like some of you so bear with me. I know the stock Bazooka is over priced. My question is whether to bypass the Bazooka altogether and then spend this money on an after market amp. I rather have both but if I had to choose between the two, want would this group advise?

Thanks for all the suggestions and your expertise...

Get an aftermarket amp and sub. You will pay less than the bazooka and be more satisfied at the end.

Aftermarket all the way... the bazooka tube sounds way to muddy. Even if you drop more on a sub and amp to get high end gear, you'll be happier with your sound in the long run.

im not very audio savvy when it comes to installing and the process and what not. but i have seen the infinity sub thats got the amp integrated into it so its all one unit. you think this might be a good route for me to go? im a student with a limited budget.

The Infinity amp and sub combo is supposed to be alright. I went to my local electronics store and checked one out. There isn't a ton of pound, but it seems to be a good filler to get the bass off your stock speakers and to something that can handle it. I guess I'm used to having something a bit more powerful. I had 2 MTX 8000 Series 12's in my last car with a 800 watt amp to power them both. If you don't want to go crazy wiring up stuff all over your car, I would definately recommend the Infinity. For SURE it's going to be about 100 times better than the Bazooka... hands down.

Definitely aftermarket...If you working on a budget and want solid bass for low cost, check out:

The Shiva 12" hits hard at 650watts RMS @ 2 ohms for only $125. I have one in the back of my SAAB 5 dr and it hits real nice and sweet.
