So the dealer who was taking care of my order called me today telling me that a tc was on reserve for me but it would not come with the exhaust or the side air bag functions that i wanted on it. This is the 8th week i've waited for the tc and she told me that toyota no longer offered those features, this sounds a bit shady to me. She also told me that if i wanted to those features it would be a bigger wait. I feel like i'm getting shafted here on this deal, anyone know if toyota did stop these features or if she's feeding me lies.

well, the side airbags WERE a limited production thing... that could be the reason. side airbag equiped cars are very rare from what i heard and i really wouldn't wait longer to get the car to get them... but that's my opinion.

as for the exhaust, unless she meant that they no longer offer it as a port installed option, which is true, she's smoking (some good ) crack... if it's the former, that just means you'll have to pay extra for installation at the dealer (which includes the benefit of having the cost of the exhaust diffused with the monthlies and 3 year or more warranty)

you can do what i did and get the exhaust after you get the car, but still include the cost with installation with your payments, or just order it separately from mcgeorge or partznet and install it yourself (which should be a breeze)

well atleast u got ur car....im still waiting...just take the car and install afterwards...no worry....if not....can i have it?....is it auto or manual?...and which dealer is it at? thanks

 

There may be some truth to that--at least where side airbags are concerned. I just spoke to my dealer because I wanted to see what colors they had on the lot--I have an order for one with side airbags that I placed in mid-August--it's due in this week, and I'm having residual color panic. I asked her about the current availability of the side airbags, and she said that only 1 in 50 cars had them, at this point. I'm not sure if that was always the case or if there was a decrease, but I always thought that the level was more like 20%. Whatever the case, they must be getting much harder to come by.

Also, anyone waiting for azure pearl in the New England region--she mentioned that the entire region only got 1 in the most recent allocation. So it sounds like if you 're looking for a manual azure pearl with side airbags, you may have to go to Japan and build it yourself.

 

Side airbags are a factory option, they can't be installed afterwards.

 

Man 8 WEEKS....... all of my customers that order tC's have only at least a month to a month and a half. The side curtain bags are hard to find put if they put in an order for your car , then on there allocation they should have gotten one to fill your order, that does not make any sense. As far as the TRD exhaust. That is still available, but not as a port option but as a dealer install. It just doesn't make sense that you haven't gotten your car. I hope everything goes well.
