Default spraying wheels question?

was just wondering when sanding your wheels do you sand to scuff or to remove to the bare metal? also i was thinking to use 400 sandpaper first then 1000 to smooth everything out, is that a good idea or using the 1000 just a waste of time? i was thinking about using a hair dyer to help the paint dry, would this work or is this a no no? thanks for the input and sorry or the question but i never done this before.

You want to smooth any drips and break the shine on the original paint to allow the new paint you are applying to adhere better. Grit used depends upon the the thickness of the new paint you will be appling - 1000 grit should work ok but 400-600 with light pressure would be ok too.

A red Scotchbrite is really all the scuff you need. Wipe down with mineral spirits.

Yeah Scotchpad is also good to use it with some Dawn dish washing liquid and water to remove any oils or else the paint could fisheye on you. Water will hold down the dust and keep the pad from clogging.
