howz it going everyone, i'm posting this up for a friend and fellow club member. my friends xb has a two inch drop with a JP kit running 17 with 40 series tires on it so it's pretty low and running a ingen c.a.i . it was raining on april fools night and he hit a nice size puddle. long story short he changed his spark plugs and m.a.f. sensor. a week after that the engine blew. his #1 blew out of the block, our shop manger told him that it hydro locked. my question is does anybody know were we can find a 1nzfe motor??
I did a search for you on car part.com and got this:
Hilo Auto Recycling has a couple of Echo engines.
As you may know--the Echo used the same engine......
Good luck........

From the sound of it when the enigne sucked up the water it bent the connecting rod just enough to throw it off balance till it selfdestruct. CAI r evil. If u get any sort of flooding whatsoever don't even consider running them. By me last summer we had a nasty rain storm n the water level was afew inches above the side walk n I had gotten stuck in it with my last car I've owned. Long story short the entire radiator was covered in grass, leaves, n sticks and I was pullin out handfulls of crap from the pockets inside the bumper.
As stated above u can use the Echo motor as its the same thing. I would just recommend swapping out the bottom only and reuse the top end as there may be suttle differences and other various sensors that the echo model doesn't have. Best bet is to try ebay or a local salvage yard for a decent bottom end that u can do a rebuild n drop it in.

Here's a starting point. These motors do pop up every now and then so u just need to dig alil. Best of luck.
