bye bye tC!! *review* (56K go run a marathon)
Finally after parting with my tC a couple months ago, I finally got my new ride.

Okay so where to begin... I picked this baby up from the showroom 3 days ago and was able to get it for $1000 under invoice. So far it has been great and it definetly gets alot of attention. First lets start with the engine, the 2.5 litre flat4 has much more grunt than the 2az-fe @ lower rpms. The power delivery is pretty smooth and you can really feel the powerband coming on @ 3,000+ rpms. Unfortunatley it still has to be broken in so I can't comment on the topend. Now the transmission is probably its worst aspect. The feeling of the shifter is notchier, rubbery feeling and even worse than the tC (which I hated.) Every gear must be rev-matched for easy engagement. Sometimes I get so fed up with it I find myself doubleclutch upshifting which really is a pain in the ___ on the way back from the gym. The stock 120 watt stereo w/ aux input and the stock speakers are just, well.....cheap but that isn't a huge issue for me. The handling of this car definetly has potential but it tends to understeer and the bodyroll on the stock suspension is pretty noticable. These cars are also blessed with the crappy potenzas that came on the tC so when conditions aren't perfect, I dare not push it. Braking seems good but as I said before, I'm still breaking her in so I have not used them to their full potential. The brakes seem to hold up fairly well in moderate braking in traffic. The four-pot front brakes and the two-port rear mono-block brake calipers painted bright red seem promising though. The interior isn't as nice as the tC but the seats rock! They hold very well and mine came with beige leather and heated seats. The quality of the leather isn't very good but it makes the car seem much more luxurious. However the paint on the exterior is terrible. Mine came off the lot with swirls and I have no had time to polish/wax it. Idle vibration is very noticabel too but I guess its because of the flat-4. I can't wait to start modding.
cliff-notes
-Nice low end torque
-Tranny feels even worse than the tC's
-Handling has tons of potential
-brakes are promising
-seats hold very well
-noticable idle vibration
-terrible paint
-love my new car

. i like the subaru's too, that was my second choice to the tC.
well, to compare and contrast, i love the tc's shifter, i admit it took alittle getting used to, but it grew on me. i'm sure if you keep at it the tranny will grow on you too.
most of your dislikes of the car sound easily fixable but i'm sure you know that. better rubber, stiffer suspension, new audio system.
now is it a flat 4? or a horizontally opposed engine? or both? i'm alittle confused.

Not everyone is a fan. Personally I liked a few things from the tC more than this car but the pros definetly outweigh the cons. It gets the same MPG with about 80 more HP and TQ at the crank (underrated.) The more I drive this car the more I appreciate the 4-pot brakes over the dinky things on the tC. No way those brakes were ever intended for a 3000lbs car especially with that over-excited ABS.
