There's only 1 S/C - the TRD SC.

SC is good for linear power... plus you get to keep the warranty (provided you don't mod it). Turbo's are fine too, but you need fuel management (ECU Piggyback).

anyone done the ZPI A/T Stage 1 kit?

They boast 300+ WHP but you have to send your A/T to them so they can do upgrades too it.

Anyone know anyone that has done this yet?

Thanks.

Actually, this is only true for certain types of superchargers: bolt and screw, and roots style. The centripital or centrifugal supercargers (like the TRD SC) do NOT provide linear power. Adding one is almost exactly the same as adding a turbocharger.

Oh no no no... no like a turbo at all. Boost with a centerfugal is 100% rpm dependant. At 2000rpm you will only get x amount of boost period, at 5000rpm you will only get x amount of boost. With a turbo you can build boost at almost any rpm

Basically with a sc like the vortech / trd unit you end up with a powerband that looks like a ski ramp... peak power is almost always made at exactly redline. Totally different with a turbo and totally different powerband.

Uh yeah - I drove home on my Greddy kit without engine management. It runs so horrible - it won't even idle right atm. I need the fuel management.

If you're going turbo, you will HAVE to get it tuned.

In my humble opinion a ZPI Stage 0 is as close as I've seen (so far) to a kit that runs so/so without management. It will only run so/so if you keep the stock 370cc injectors -but it still runs a little lean way on top and will run lean when the car is in closed loop (under 3000 RPM)

Get a wide-band with your kit -Then there is no guess work as to what the next step will be and if you need to address A/F.
