So I just bought a used 2010 Scion tC from a dealer with a little over 50,000 miles. Car appears to be in very good shape. The dealer offered me a 3yr/36,000 mi bumper to bumper warranty through Fidelity for $2,000. I took it since I can cancel and get a full refund within 30 days.

Since I'm new to Scions wanted to get people's opinions as to whether it's worth it or not. I usually don't due extended warranties, but thought it might be worth it on a used car. Since I got the car two days ago I read some mixed opinions both about Fidelity and car warranties. I also contacted AAA and got a quote from them (through AutoGuard) which for the exact sam price would give me 7yr or up to 100,000 miles on the car—I work at home and we have a Prius for long trips so don't force putting a lot of miles on the car.

Thoughts/Opinions—are either of these worth the money? Are there any major Scion mechanics failures between 50-100,000 miles?

@ about 100K they may start to consume oil like a SOB.
They had an issue with bad piston rings, you just have to keep an eye on your oil levels.
Good thing is that there is an extended warranty from Toyota called ZE7 which covers the car 10 years after first use or 150K miles.
other than that I think they are pretty solid.
