Default p0500 no speedometer won't go above 2nd

Edit: 2004 Xb Automatic

Hey all. I've been googling all day. My wife says she slid on a small patch of ice in the driveway this morning. After that, no speedometer, won't shift past 2nd. I have seen a lot of threads that say the traction control light and the ABS light come on also, that hasn't happened.

I have checked the ECU IG fuse, it's good. I reset the ECU, after that it wouldn't shift past 1st until the CEL popped back on. My local parts store, which is a REALLY good store, can't find a listing for a Vehicle Speed Sensor. I looked at all of the ABS sensors, can't SEE anything wrong. Haven't found anything unplugged in the harness anywhere.

What should I do next? Sensors are pricey for this thing. Will a better scanner narrow it down if one of the sensors is bad, or do they throw different codes? The p0500 just says Vehicle Speed Sensor "A".

Btw it has 14" wheels instead of 15", but they're been on there for two years now with no issue.

Any help is appreciated. Thank you.
