Default Electrical Relay Problem - Please HELP

I have an Electrical Relay Problem! I have installed seven VDO gauges in my dash. 3 gauges are located to the left of the speedo/tach cluster and 4 gauges are located in a piller pod. All of the gauges are working and displaying correct readings. Here's the problem. All back-lighting of the seven gauges are attached to the xB master switch. When the master switch is turned to the on position the relay activates it turned on all lighting circuits. However after about 5 seconds the relay seems to overload (too much current) and shuts off the side-marked, tail lights, all gauges lighting and cluster backlighting. Where is this overloaded relay located? Under the dash or in the fuse box located in the engine compartment? Can I purchase a higher current relay and simply replace the stock one? Who makes a relay that will fit in the stock panel. Any information will really help!!! Thanks. Brian

What exactly is "master switch"? No relay is activated by the light switch on Gen1 xB. Depending on how you connected your gauges, the rheostat may be overloaded.

Sorry for the poor discription. The "master switch" that I refered to is the headlight on/off switch located on the stalk on the left of the steering column. This The gauge lighting is not connected thru the rheostat.

I think it's the bad connection problem. Check where you tapped into the tails/illumination circuit.
