a-mendoza build (Part 2) Finished and boosted @ 25psi
Some of ya may know me and alot of you probably not. Ive been out of the seen for awhile checking in every now and then but got really busy with life to worry about updating anything about my build. Well i decided to pick this back up after seeing all the good builds go down and parted out. I had seen so many good builds on here and now it seems like eveyone has dropped their builds to start fresh on a new project or have run into other problems. Anyways i decided it was time to bring life back to my 05 tC so hope ya enjoy the ride.
Build Summary:
Back in April 2010 I had decided to make the jump to build my motor and go the custom route to make more power than i was use to from the stock motor. After alot of time and money I finally fired it up for the first time with all the new mods in September. I got to enjoy the car alot over the time starting with a simple 10psi and working my way up to 15psi then 20psi. After about 10k miles of hard racing everything just decided to start going bad. I fixed a few issues to get me by so i could still drive the car but finally i said it was time to put my project away. In 0ctober 2011 I got me a new 2012 Scion tC RS7.0 cause i got tired of having problems with my '05 tC and just being to busy to worry about fixing it. After 6 months of having my '05 tC sit in my garage i finally said its time to make time to give this car a chance to make a comeback. The plan is to tear down the motor, fix whatever needs to be repaired, and get it all back together and shoot for 25psi. I miss the boost and i want to feel that power again. Ahhh here we go again
For those of ya intrested heres the link to my orignal build thread: https://www.scionlife.com/forums/showthread.php?t=185712

Update 7/29/12
Alright guys so after 3 months i finally decided to give a little update on what ive been up to. Well first off i didnt go thru with what i originally said. When i sold my Civic i kinda used a bit of that money to do a little two tone on my Yellow tC and buy a carbon fiber hood for it. I didnt atually start the rebuild till about 3 weeks ago so heres what we got going on so far. Got the motor out and completley torn down to a bare block. Found some slight head warpage and it looks like some combustion gasses may have been seeping between cylinders 2 and 3 as the head looked a little hot between that area. Also judging from the valves it appears that i may have been running a little lean and never realized it. Just glad my motor never went boom at this point. Nothing wrong with the block but i did drop it off at the machine shop to have the block resurfaced and also had the head dropped off to have it rebuilt. Should have them back within the next couple days.
So heres whats new for the rebuild
-- Wrapping the firewall in DEI Reflect-A-Gold (Mainly for looks)
-- Powdercoating Engine Parts (Timing Cover, Valve Cover, thermostat housing, etc)
-- Wire tuck with moddified harnesses and relocated fuse block and battery
-- Shaved and filled engine bay
-- KoyoRad 36mm Aluminum Radiator
-- Koyo 1.3bar Radiator Cap
-- Mishimoto 61*C Thermostat
-- Samco Radiator Hoses
-- ARP2000 Head studs (stronger than the last set of ARP studs i used)
-- New 89mm Cometic Head Gasket and all new gaskets
Oh yea did i mention i have a deadline of September 15 to get this done. Trying to have this car ready for HIN Dallas, TX On the 22nd so if anyone is planning on being there you can see the finished product in person there.
Pics:
Finally rolled up into the shop for the rebuild

I manage to break an intercooler pipe weld so its been leaking. Had a tranny go out on me so had to replace it. Broke a few cv shafts lol. Also after one of my hard runs aparently my oil lines for the feed line broke its fitting and leaked oil so i was stuck using a nitrous line i had lying around as my new feed line to my turbo. Next day i found the new 36" nitrous line rubbed a hole in my radiator. Then what made me give up was my head starting having floating issues on high boost and started making my car overheat. It would run just fine under low boost though. Finally i guess the head gasket gave out so i put her away. Also it looks like the rear main is leaking. Probably my fault though cause i think i may have nicked it a little when installing it and decided to call it good. Oh yea and i use to have a precision turbo but the seals kept leaking after like 2k miles. This happend to me 3 times so i switched to a garrett. Never had a problem again.

yea it did. I just quit updating things so it just died off. Plus the thread was all bought me building my motor for the first time to make my power goals. Thats why i started a new thread. Cause the subject has changed. Its not about building the car now.. its about bringing it back to life.
Right now all im waiting on is to get my Civic sold. I already have a buyer just waiting for him to get the loan. Once my Civic is gone ill be using the money to bring my 05 tC back to the streets and stomping on everything around here. My biggest challenge here is a honda s2k with a built motor pushing about 600hp on race gas. Not sure what he makes on pump gas but thats what will be racing with. Hope my car can make enough power to take out the s2k

very nice... build looks descent... hope you get the numbers out of it you want... i was never really impressed with doing the whole built motor thing (money vs power) ... but the 60.1 should so its justice i would think mid to upper 400's
have you had it dyno'ed or any guess what it may lay down
subscribing to this one..

My civic just sold so looks like i now have the funds to get my tc going again.
As far as power level i never did hit the dyno but i believe i was making close to 500hp if not upper 400's for sure when i was on 23psi. I will say i raced a new GTR from a 40 and took it by several cars.
Paul ill be needing a new headgasket for sure so maybe you can get me a price on that. Maybe a price on the ATI damper while im at it.

thats awesome man.. im hoping for high 480's n/a 500+ with a little spray. sounds like a fun car keep up the good work...
i have mixed emotions about the ATI damper. i never had a issue in my car and a buddy of mine down the street from mehas a ptuning set up built everything runs his car hard for about 6 months now and no issues...
its all on what your budget is.. i dont think its necc,
