Default 225/40/18 on TRD spring, will 225/45 get rid of more gap?

Hi, i have some Kyowa KR316 in gunmetal size 18x7.5 and this fit no probs. Last week I put some TRD springs on them and they look pretty sweet but i still have about a 2 finger gap left.

I was told that i should wait another few weeks as the springs would settle a bit more and i would have about 1.5 finger gap.

I knew what i was gettng myself into when i chose to get TRDs over h-techs and hotchkis springs mostly because my driveway is pretty steep and the streets i drive on are pretty bad.

Anyways i was wondering when i change out my tires could i get larger tires like 225/45/18 to make my ride less bumpy and lose a bit more wheel gap?

also ive seen tires that have Lip protectors on them. are these special tires or are they simply wider tires?

sorry if this question has been asked before but im having a hard time looking for exactly what i want using the Search button.

I have a TRD drop on 18x7.5 wheels. The springs should settle after a couple of weeks. I have 235/40/18 tires with no rubbing at all. It helps with the gap and the tires are wider.
