Default Service issues from a non scion toyota dealer

Has anyone tried to take their scion to a Toyota dealer that doesnt sell scions? When i bought mine i was told i coudl take it to a toyota dealer even if it didnt sell scions. So i tried taking mine to the toyota place where i live. since any scion dealer is atleast an hr away.

they told me that since they didnt sell scions, that they could not do any kind of work on it. but the sales guy after he drooled over the car kept trying to sell me their paint protection program which was almost twice what id pay at the scion dealer.

So has anyone else ran into this? i asked when they were going to get scion and they said they werent plannign on it, they want to get mitsubishi they said.

What where you having them try to do? I dont see why they could not work on it. I think they guy was just blowing stuff out his ___. A scion is a toyota. I think he was mostly mad because the car was not from that dealer ship, so he did not want to deal with it.

i was trying to get my floormats replaced, because at 500 miles they had worn out already. and he said he proablaby couldnt get them because they are scion and that they also couldnt do any warranty repairs or any other repairs since they dont sell it.

i eventually got him to order some floormats but they havent come in yet and its been 2weeks i think. and when i got him to order them he said that they still cant do repairs on it and stuff.

id like to have them check the a/c out since its not very cold some times, and i dont have time to wait at the scion place an hr away all day.

If they keep giving you the run around. E-Mail scion & see if a normal toyota dealer can deal with warranty work on your scion. I think you A/C should be covered under that 1 TSB that is out about the A/C system. As for the floor mats, yeah they would need to order them, but your warranty should still cover them.

ive talked to scion about this and yes ANY toyota dealer can work on scions.. i've even talked to non-scion toyota dealers.. and yes they have the info to work on them.. so i wouldn't waste time with someone who lies like that.. i'd call scion and tell them your floormats are worn out.. i bet they'd get you new ones quickly..

If your doing warranty work I think you have to go to a Scion dealer. It's like Lexus, Toyota can work on a Lexus and get some of the parts, not all, but if you want warranty work, it has to go to Lexus. If you want warranty work on your Scion, you need to go to a Scion dealer.

you can't take it to a toyota dealer becuase certain people have to be certified that they can work on scions. especially warranty work. they don't have the parts for scion.

I dont think it takes a master tech, to get on the computer punch in a few #'s & order new floormats.

No it doesn't, but if the customer wants them covered under warranty he has to go to a Scion dealer. I'm sure they could order them from their depot no problem, but he will have to pay for them. Only authorized dealers can perform warranties.

I say file a complaint about them with TOYOTA, that's Crap. I need to find out is Lexus dealers can work on them also? I don't see why not? They seem like they would take more care with your baby than the run of the mill Toyota dealer. Kinda like taking your chevy to a caddy dealership it's all GM.
